This. The truth is that we're not oil-rich. While the stadium was being built, we could only spend what we earnt in sales. In hindsight, the likes of Eriksen and Rose at least should have been sold much sooner - but that would've been massively unpopular with the fanbase at the time. Poch got plenty wrong, but he was right that we needed a painful rebuild, and if he'd been listened to on that by both the board and the fans we might have been doing it from a position of greater strength than where we find ourselves now.It’s sounding very much like that, complete rebuild. Agreed.
I can see why that didn’t sit well with the board, and I can imagine had it happened, there’d be a large portion of the fan base up in arms about it too.
