I am taking the ' objectives I was asked for in our first meeting' as when he first joined us,so the objectives from then to now would be world's apart! And probably not meeting them this year before being sacked.
I think he's saying, I accomplished what I was asked to accomplish - ergo - I have no blame in what happened. We shall see.

But surely the goal will have changed each season. His first season was probably keep us in CL and challenge for a cup!?

That wouldn't have been the same goal as set out at the start of this season, so doubt he achieved ALL that was set out for him.

It was repeatedly stated that his objective was to get the team in a position to challenge for the top 4 at the point of entering the new stadium. By most objective assessments, he surpassed this by some distance. That's on him, his staff and the players. Maybe if Mr Chairman had backed him properly, we might have achieved even more.

nice statement

He massively outperformed his objectives

and wasn’t his fault the stadium came in so late and over budget that he didn’t get the chance to consistently invest or offer competitive wages until now

Reading that statement made me even sadder. Love the guy, still hurts.

Understandably it sounded a bit terse.

Also ominous...? 'I'm sure our paths will cross again'

"Paths will cross" = "I don't expect I'll ever be back."

How I read it:
"Thank you all. I was heartbroken but now I have firmly an offer with more money and a less hands on club president, so I'm over the heartbreak and moving on quickly. Wish I could share more details about what really happened. C U never Tottenham."

I think the, "paths will cross" comment is basically saying, when I take over at Man U we will meet again.

He just means it's likely he'll be the manager of a club that plays us in the future. Nothing more to it than that.

This is what I’m getting.

“ I had a great job, loved the players and thought Daniel was an actual friend. I’ve been so naive, I have a big heart and believed people had my back. I had a great time even tho we were homeless for a while, I towed the corporate line at that point re inbound transfers. Hey, we had a great time.

I then realised that certain players were two headed snakes and that to go with the shiny new stadium Danny wanted a shiny new “Brand” manager. At that point I received the el sacko.

Moving forward I’ll show Danny the same loyalty he showed me ie fuck all. Yep. Our paths will cross again. I’ll be at Carrow road in the opposition’s dug out Saturday.

I didnt think Arsenal fans could embarrass themselves much further but this clamouring for our ex manager after having tried to dismiss what he was doing at spurs is a new level of pathetic.

When it comes to morons in the fanbase there's always the argument that every club has them but they truly do stand as the elite club when it comes to being utter bellends

I posted in the General football forum at the weekend that a few different journalists in Italy expect AC Milan to go in hard for Poch for next season. Gab Marcotti said he was their dream choice in the summer just gone if he left after the UCL Final. Instead they hired a fucking nobody who got sacked after seven games and replaced by a guy who was sacked by Inter Milan after less than a year in 2017.

Milan may not be among the giants of football now but they are a giant club and I'd back Poch to get them into shape. This is a club that haven't played in the Champions League for several years but on paper it should be easier to make the Top 4 in Italy with Milan than it was to make the Top 4 in England with Spurs which he did 4 out of 5 years. They were banned from playing in this year's Europa League because of some FFP rule so the fact they're 12th shows what a mess they are. Someone needs to clean it up and maybe it's the right challenge for Poch to do. He'll get better offers I'm sure but maybe the satisfaction of a challenge with a sleeping giant is better than taking over PSG or Real Madrid.

I know it's extremely unlikely to happen due to him saying previously about being a man of principle etc, but what would your reaction be if he did take over at the goons?

Would it be as bad, or worse than Judas? I don't for a second believe he would, but every man and their dog is linking him there. He can do much better and wouldn't fuck up his legacy here, but then again, Money talks....

He'll get much better offers than Arsenal, more attractive in so many ways too.

I'd be amazed if he had more money elsewhere. He got paid a fuckton with us for someone who has yet to write any silverware on his CV.

If he was the 2nd highest paid manager in the league behind Pep, it means he was getting more than Klopp, who had won leagues and cups before he went to Liverpool
