Who's place will he be pushing? Not Eriksen. I doubt Dele. He's scored 7 league goals in the last two Bundesliga seasons, Son has 26 in the Premier League so I don't see that being pushed much. I was under the impression he was one for the future.

Eriksen has had his dips in form..burn out so to speak. What's wrong with added healthy, quality competition for places

There's nothing wrong with it but I don't see any way Pulisic "brings us to that next level...pushing others for their places" for a while yet. He isn't displacing Eriksen Dele or Son imo.

I repectufully disagree, Tiger. He outshone Dele in our first battle in Europe. Dare I say, that's when he caught Pochs eye. A constant threat moving the ball forward with pace.

I think he's absolutely ready to step into our squad and push others for places.

Good thing it's not my job though, just an opinion based on watching Pulisic and obviously Spurs.

Exactly, stupid money when it probably wont even improve our starting 11.

Well sure but that's only one game. Regardless, it's Poch's decision as you say.

Dele and Eriksen are going to start every game pretty much whether we like it or not. Thats pretty much the way its been for the past 3 seasons, I see no reason that is going to change all of the sudden. I'm agreeing with you for the record and just continuing the dialogue.

Not being funny, but your comments on Winks might be correct, but please tell me 1 person that plays professional football that doesn’t have 3 or 4 off days in a full season
Never said anyone does. I'm just simply of the opinion that I'm not ready to hand over the keys to Winks full time yet.

Nope.

Their stance hasn't changed, they still want a fortune for him, told 70mil+ Euro's. Obviously it will probs come down a bit with negotiation, but too rich for us. I was told a while back we had backed off due to fee. Heard nothing to the contrary since.

I agree. There's no chance we will be paying that much for a player this window. We never have in the past and we aren't going to rip up over a decade of transfer window experience, which has worked well on the whole so far, by doing so.

Levy has said so and so has Poch.

Here's where it all changed for me...as in bringing in quality players/additions/depth....I'll get to my point...

The "Battle of the Bridge."....we brought on Ryan Mason to shore up our win. Now, while Ryan is Spurs through and through, he's no Victor Wanyama. The latter, a welcomed quality addition that summer who remains a stopgap player in our squad when the opposition or fixture schedule requires his presence.

Now add Pulisic to that mix...if we're to find ourselves in another Bridge Battle, or something thereof....I know who I'd want to replace Sonny, Dele or Eriksen.... Pulisic and not Grealish. And I also understand, with that quality addition, there's a price to pay - literally and figuratively detracting from other potential transfer targets.

Long winded take on why I prefer Pulisic - but that substitute changed my opinion on "Quality" squad additions from that day forth.

But we have Lucas and Lamela for that substitution now, we don't need to spend 70mil for a substitute offensive spark.

If we're preparing an official offer (per Hercs info), something tells me that Lamela is on the move, or being shopped around. Shame because I think his passionate play intimidates the opposition when needed. I still view Pulisic a younger, better and marketable and long term alternative to either of the attacking options you mentioned. Great discussion by the way...thanks all

We got told the money for Tierney was way to much for us. No one should be surprised we wont pay for real talents like Martial or Pulisic. Only second to the Manc clubs on transfers they said ?

Welcome Barrios, plea and Grealish.

Thanks Trix, interesting stuff and makes sense about Grealish and how he has been watched and known about for a long time.

Has there been ITK that we won't pay the money for Martial? I must have missed it. I thought all the noises were that Utd wouldn't deal with us?

I'm almost certain Dele was suspended for that match

Not sure I buy the argument that Pulisic won’t be pushing for a place in the starting XI. There were similar arguments made last summer when we signed Sanchez. “Why are we spending so much on a young CB when we have Jan and Toby” to wildly paraphrase.

Circumstances change, players get injured or lose form or are sold. Son for example will be missing the 1st month of the season.

Pulisic is only 19 years old. He has huge potential. He frightened the life out of me every time he attacked for Dortmund against us at Wembley. If we can afford his fee and Poch is happy to integrate him into the squad, I’m all for it.

Getting a CM should be a priority this summer but I wouldn’t say no to Pulisic.
