Just wondered with all this banter about the big 4 or big 3 (depending on who you support), that if all 4 English clubs get to the semi's does that mean another place is awarded to the Premier League?

UEFA.com states that a nations 'Eligibility' depends on the association's position in UEFA's coefficient ranking list, which then determines the number of clubs that can be entered by that association. I don't see anything stating that there is a limit on the amount of clubs an association can enter.

As our top clubs get more and more powerful and richer it's not impossible that one season we will have our 4 clubs in the semi's, possibly even this season, which would surely see a massive increase in our coefficient rating so do we then get another place?

I aint got a clue to be honest. I do find it hard to believe that there will ever be more than 4 teams from England allowed into Champs League.

Although i am prob wrong!!!

The 4 year time scale, promised to us (by whoever!) is just about UP so we are due CL qualification, any day now!
I would prefer to enter the CL through the MAIN DOOR....as winners BUT more likely as one of the Top 4 or 5. We all know that we will....just a matter of time....If we consider that we are going to get stronger over the next 12 - 18 months, we can be positive about the future. Man City, Villa and Everton will all try to compete and, depending on who is funding their WAR chest, we will be Triumphant! COYS!

i think only 4 teams from each coutry can be in the CL, so even if there were 4 English teams in the semi's, the 5th wouldn't qualify

4 is the maximum any country is allowed, would prefer it if only three were allowed from this country than four, break up the big 4. Under Ramos, I would be confident of beating both Arsenal and Liverpool for 3rd place.

4 is the maximum any country is allowed unless we get a new Liverpool-situation, with the CL winner outside the CL qualification spots in its country.

So that could in theory happen with Liverpool again this year then?

No. If that happened again the Champion will get the spot and the fourth team will go into the Uefa cup...as would have happened had we got 4th two years ago and Arse had won the the Champions League.

There will never be more than 4 teams from any country again.

Title-holder
1.03 The UEFA Champions League title-holder is guaranteed a place in the group stage even if it does not qualify for the competition through its domestic championship.

a) If the title-holder comes from an association entitled to more than one place in the UEFA Champions League and qualifies for the UEFA Cup through its domestic competitions, the lowest-ranked club of the association’s UEFA Champions League representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Cup. In this case, the number of places to which the title-holder's national association is entitled in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup does not change.

b) If the title-holder comes from an association entitled to more than one place in the UEFA Champions League and does not qualify for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Cup through its domestic competitions, the 2 lowest-ranked club of the association’s UEFA Champions League representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Cup. In this case, the national association of the title-holder is entitled to one
additional place in the UEFA Cup.

I was sure they changed it for good, not just to please the Scousers :-|

Also thought CL and UEFA were the same, as UEFA says

Title-holder
1.06 Unless the UEFA Cup title-holder qualifies for the UEFA Champions League through its domestic championship, it will be guaranteed a place in the first round of the UEFA Cup. If the title-holder does qualify for the UEFA Cup through its domestic competitions, the number of places to which its national association is entitled in the UEFA Cup does not change. If the UEFA Cup title-holder does not qualify for either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Cup through its domestic competitions, its participation in the UEFA Cup will
not be at the expense of the contingent of its association.
