The match thread dropped to page 2!!
MoPo has been picking 10 out of the best 11 players at the club. Maybe that is not the best team.

This will be a very difficult game IMO.

But seriously if Poch picks the same team again......

It's become even more important now with Liverpool and Southampton losing. We've been in this situation many many times before though and not taken advantage.

The line-up Poch plays will be very telling. Burnley are a team that you have to come out against and press high up the pitch consistently to be able to dominate, especially early. If Poch plays the exact same team he has for the last 6 weeks, we are going to have major issues, as Burnley will take advantage of the lack of cohesive pressing and play the ball up the wings and expose our defensive weaknesses.

The other thing Burnley does is they press pretty well themselves. It's no coincidence that the three games we've dropped points in lately involved teams that pressed us into defensive mistakes.

Not playing Lamela tomorrow would be a big mistake. Forget the fact that he works very well in a pressing unit and the fact that he creates more clear cut chances than any other player in the squad, and just look at the fact that he put in one of the best performances of any player all season against Burnely earlier this season. I'd also start BOTH Paulinho and Dembele in the central midfield, giving Mason/Bentaleb a one-game break. If things don't look good at half, we can change things pretty quickly.

I hate playing catch up. My major gripe with the Europa games on Thursdays wasn't so much the fatigue factor, or the travelling, but more the fact that you play after everyone else. I worry about our team's mental fortitude at the best of times so I do wonder how they deal with the pressure of knowing that they have to take advantage of other teams' slip ups.

Burnley seem to give us a hell of a time as well, they really do put up a good fight. I think it's going to be bloody close tomorrow.

I mostly agree. I wouldnt completely change the CM2. I'd keep one of them in and bring in Stambouli. In the AM3, I am dropping Townsend and Chadli and starting Lamela and Paulinho. Tough on Dembele but Paulinho played great last match when he came on so deserves the opportunity. At the back, Dier and Walker need to be dropped for Chiriches and Fazio.

There will only be 3 changes at most, however, and all will have been forced by injury. We already know of one change(Vorm for Hugo). We just dont know yet if Rose will be fit and if Dier's black eye that forced him to withdraw from England U21s will force him to miss out tomorrow. If both are fit, Vorm for Hugo will be the only change. I'll be floored if Poch drops Walker, Townsend, Mason, Bentaleb or Chadli.

Our defence is very poor. We'll need three goals to win as usual (maybe four, without Hugo) and I'm not sure were going to do that. 2-2 or 3-3.

Let's get in 5th and then pray for a United or City collapse.
I think the City collapse started on New years day.
We will win this game if we don't go in thinking its a forgone conclusion, we need to approach it like we would a top team, same effort same work rate anything less and we won't win because we aren't that good yet.

Seasons over now. Hoped for more this season but alas shame we couldn't have lifted the cup or gone deeper in the Europa.

Actually make Burnley favourites for tomorrow.

Our defence is a shambles.

Also Burnley poor results haven't actually been a true reflection of their performances, they're a decent hard-working outfit.

The biggest problem for me is a likely lack of motivation for our players.... With top 4 seemingly out of our reach.

Burnley on the other hand will be pumped up and fighting for their lives.

2-1 Burnley for me, praying I'm wrong.

Our chance of avoiding the above outcome is to change up this stagnant XI we've been 'blessed' with the last month or so.

Lamela and Dembele in for Chadli and Townsend... At least.

I can see it being a score draw, which won't help either team. There's no way our powderpuff defenders and midfield will keep a clean sheet.
