I will add that this isn't the stance from Levy, the ITKs and the club in general.

They've all said we are eating with the big boys, that we are here to challenge.

Another net spend and just replacing rather than adding whilst the likes of Villa splash hundreds of millions.

Surely you cannot be happy with that.

Jeez dude
Villa had little choice as they had loan players to replace and only 2/3 of a squad left.

Name the players that they bought that gets in to the spurs line up or even bench ???

Oh come on.

Understand the point I'm making.

It's not difficult.

For me, this isn't about net spend per se, it's about Poch getting the player(s) he has asked for. There is no point in me having a pop at Levy without knowing exactly what Betis have been up to (although as PSG have a sell on for GLC then I can appreciate why they are looking to maximise their fee) but it does worry me if we fail to land the players that he wants.

I honestly believe we will get him, both teams want the deal, its just a question of who blinks first on the deal. I think come deadline day Levy would give in as he knows he needs to give Poch what he wants but I reckon Betis will blink before that.

The problem that is skimmed over regularly is that we don't really know what Poch asks for, either. People would put 2 and 2 together and say "GLC is Argentinian, so Poch obviously wants him", but he might be not be his first choice. A bit like how Messi would be Poch's dream signing, but he's not his first choice because he's not available, but then if he actually became feasible, that would change the situation on who his first choice was, etc.

A lot of confirmation bias goes on, and as much as people like to point and blame Levy for his behavioural patterns, lots of people like to casually ignore Poch's track record on players too. We shouldn't assume that Poch wants the option we see as best, and people would probably change their stance on getting him 'who he wants' if it turned out to be players like Ballotelli.

It was much easier with Redknapp as he had no mind/mouth filter in from of a sky sports mic.

Yeah, I'm starting to think we aren't going to be signing anyone else this window. Just feels too similar to the end of last years window.

I've woken up feeling pessimistic but actually would do anything for Levy to back Poch and get him Lo Celso and Fernandes within a weeks time.

For a start I'm not using Villa as an example of players we should have signed. I'm not saying we should be signing Marvelous Nakamba.

The context I was using is that Villa had holes in their squad and they've filled them. Liverpool had holes last summer and they filled them. They also added.

We cannot simple just replace what we've lost and not add. You think Poch will be happy with that?

He'll bloody walk.

I think the thing is though that the standard of players Villa needed to get that would improve them is a lot lower than the standard of players we should be aiming for to improve us.

It’s a lot more tricky to secure the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Fernandes compared to the players they were in for (no disrespect as I think Villa have made some good signings mind, but at present we’re aiming for different things).

Always been reported Poch likes a small squad. Better have a few spaces and allow the youth to get in than bring in players on high wages who might end up stagnating due to low squad rotation?

What about the standard of players that liverpool has signed. The finished below us for quite a few season and also out of CL places. They strengthen themselves with top quality and the result was the brilliant season. While we always replace outgoing players and that too late on. Trust me we will be after RB in next summer.

The point is they are showing ambition and backing their manager which does not seem to be the case at Spurs hence Poch is frustrated... The guy has made the club maybe £200+ million and deserves more from Levy

Until recently Liverpools turnover has been double ours, we have been in the same league with regard to football, not in regard to spending power. Finishing ahead of them has been an incredible achievement, providing you can actually appreciate how challenging that has been.

No one is asking to go and spend 250 mil every season. After very little spending in last few TWs surely Club of tottenham size can spend 100 mil net.

nop, it's not that they can't ...they won't. levy always looking for cut-price or alternative cheaper option usually french .. but with poch only wanting the best means well likely land up with 0

Their big splash in cash was also helped with the 100+ mill deal for Coutinho and rinsing Bournemouth for almost 40 mil for both Solanke and Ibe.
