I think he can waive goodbye to his career at Spurs.

Surf's up.

I think the main protagonist in this is obviously Bostock but i do wonder if we could have done better by him.

Everyone one wanted this guy including Barca & Chelsea. He has buckets of ability, isn't a drinker, highly religious and a happily married man.

Usually it's booze & birds that knock highly promising players off their perch but god knows what has dragged this guys career off course

What the heck does placed on waivers mean? If you have cancelled his loan you send him back. Have they fashioned a raft of 'waivers' for him to sail home on or is he an ice cream dessert?

Yes, but unfortunately you can still can a massive prick whilst not being a drinker, being highly religious and happily married. Even if the guy has "values" it doesn't mean he's still not an arrogant twerp that's ruining his career by his attitude.

For the record, not saying that he is arrogant, don't know him at all. Just saying that it's still a possibility.

It could also be that his career has gone down the pan due to a negative state of mind. Not in terms of attitude, more confidence. Perhaps the hype affected him negatively and now he can't feel like he can ever live up to his potential. This could make him quite disillusioned with the game, particularly if we've promised him the Earth.

No matter what we've offered him though, he would've had to deliver. He simply hasn't.

He might just not want to apply himself, and blame others. He was very highly regarded as a youth player

It didn't help his cause when he was insistent on clapping his hands and tapping his tambourine to "Come By Are My Lord" at half time..

Waivers usually means he's been released and can be picked up for free but here it clearly states they have just terminated the loan deal and he goes back to Spurs. Weird way of writing it.

TFC is a crap team anyway, badly run and badly put together. One of the comments states he was an emergency loan, and another says he didn't take MLS seriously (difficult when Toronto wins 1 game in 25!!!)

Highly religious people have what is known in psychology as an external locus of control. When things are going well this isn't a terrible impediment but when things aren't going to plan they assume that the reason is external (not 'God's plan', bad luck, believe they are cursed etc.) which makes it very difficult to address problems, especially their own mental issues. I'm sure that people at Spurs tried to help him but if you have a strong external locus of control you are less able to take positive criticism and may feel powerless to influence your life. It's not just highly religious people who have this damaging mindset but statistically if you have it you are relatively unlikely to succeed.

Bit of a shame really, has a hint of the Bentley about him though I'm sure that's an unfair comparison. Fair to say that some sparkling talents at the age of 16/17 do not make the step up that you might expect, sadly it appears this is one such case.

Maybe, just maybe he simply isn't good enough.

Think the problem has always been that he is not as good as he thinks he is. When it comes to applying himself he talks the talk, usually supported by Bible quotes, but on the pitch he is selfish and lazy.
