That game and the 2-1 at home to Arsenal in Poch's first season are the two stand-outs for similar reasons. Relentless dismantling of two of the best footballing teams and coaches, in the way I have always wanted to see a Spurs team play. Poch himself last season quoted that Arsenal game as the best game during his time, although he may revise that now ?

But for me that Arsenal game was special because I'd never seen a Spurs team play like that in the nearly 50 years I've been watching them, and not in the Wenger era had I seen us truly play an Arsenal side off the park in every way, with and wothout the ball, relentlessly for 90 minutes and beat them.

I think what marks both games out is that both managers could only admit afterwards that we were just plain better, I've heard a few managers of ho hum clubs say that in the last few seasons but I'd not heard Wenger say that about any Spurs team, even when we'd beaten them previously, and to hear Guardiola say it about a Spurs team made the hairs on my nuts tingle.

Can only repeat this (no surprise as its a discussion we were having post match the other day). In the euphoria of the other day I said that the weekends game maybe took top spot, but the 2-1 win was domination for 90 minutes. There was about a half hour spell for example where our centre backs (Dier/Vertonghen I think) were pushed up so high they were on the edge of the centre circle in their half, they just couldn't get out as we pressed and pressed them.

Best PL was beating man city for fourth place. Maybe im confusing it with my most enjoyable and most emotional because it got us fourth and into the CL which i was thinking we would never get to.

Twatting United 3-0 last season felt good.
Beating them away 2 seasons in a row, once under wank stain in his final season felt good.
Twatting moneybags City 3-0, 3-1 and 4-1 at home since they sold out felt good.

Yes it was a great performance Sunday which possibly has instigated a fine season for us. I think I'll wait and see how their season pans out before I decide of it was a truly great performance or just the first sign they're a bunch of over rated mercenaries managed by a bloke who's been successful at..... 2 of the biggest and most successful clubs in the history of football.

As for best performance, for me it's not just one game.
It's beating Arsenal, then Chelsea then City away to take 4th despite every single media outlet dismissing our chances of getting a single point.

Brilliant moment; probably more thrilling than the City game. But a better 90-minute performance? Not a chance.

I agree, it wasn't necessarily a better all round 90 minute performance but the 2nd half more than made up for it. We were 2 nil down at half time in a NLD away from home in a fixture we hadn't won for around 25 years.

The Man City win at the weekend wasn't that surprising a result considering we beat them home and away last season.

That's why, probably mistakenly, I view the Gooner game as the best performance.

Yes, that was probably the most delicious run we've had...

Surprised no one hasn't mentioned the 4-0 win at home game against Liverpool. That performance all ways comes to mind in these discussions.

3-0 at home to Manchester United last season.

Not necessarily the best game in it self, but the significance was huge. For the first time in a lot of years, we were the clear favourites against them, and we went out and simply proved to be the better side. We weren't perfect, but that game really proved (at least me) that we were, and are, a really really good team.

I know Man.utd wasn't close to their best last season, but still, going out and easilwinning 3-0.

Other candidates: 2-1 Arsenal home. 5-3 Chelsea. Again because these games gave the impression that we really was and are a good team.

Obviously, there have been games that have been more enjoyable at the moment (4-1 to United in 1996), but those were more games were we beat a better team, not games that meant anything in the long run.

At times we have played better with the ball. There have been more thrilling games in terms of drama. There have been larger margins of victory but I was thinking on Sunday night this was the best for pure mentality. The players believed they could do it and went and did the job - 100% commitment against the runaway favourites for the league. They didn't really celebrate at the final whistle - "no big deal, we're that good".
This is the first time we have been at this level (no one is better) in the Prem League so for me this was the best.

People are finding it hard to take out the emotion. It's not which performance gave you more elation. It's about performance.

Last years game against City at home as to be brought into the debate too, I'd have thought.

The Chelsea 5-3 was great fun, but we conceded 3 goals, likewise being 2-0 down to win 3-2 can't be considered the best performance.

Given the quality of opponent Sunday must be up there. A game against the champions elect, everyone's favourite, a team people were speaking about going unbeaten all year, who got completely dominated for 90 minutes. We've had better results, but I wonder if we've quite done what happened on Sunday before.

4-0 v Liverpool
2-1 v Chelsea (when Bale got Terry sent off - we should have hammered them that day, Modric was majestic)
2-1 v Arsenal 2015
5-0 v Newcastle (we were scintillating; Adebayor unstoppable)
9-1 v Wigan (one of the most clinical PL performances ever)

It's hard to single out a game. For me last week isn't up there, because we gave them a sniff and had Aguero been on form it could have turned out differently.

4-0 vs Liverpool in 2011/12 was a fantastic performance. We murdered them while it was 11 v 11 so much that they had 2 men sent off which made the last 30 minutes a formality. For that reason it probably gets forgotten as we made it look easy but we were exceptional that day.

3-2 at Old Trafford in Fergie's last season was very impressive - especially when you consider how easily Utd won the league that season.

I'd argue we played better in the game at the Emirates last season than we did when we won there in 2010/11 but we didn't take our chances.

The 5-0 v Newcastle was sublime. 90 minutes of domination with flair, speed and power in equal measure.

The stand out feature of that Man United thrashing was that until then, their defence was actually on a par with ours.
