Good effort from the lads, even more so when you consider the players we were missing.

Not going to slate Ade for his missed penalty as I thought he put in a good shift over the 120 minutes tonight.

Now time for AVb and the players to take advantage of the next 10 days, rest up and focus all their energy on our run in and secure a CL place

That hurt big time. I really thought we were going to go all the way in this one. Such a shame, we worked so hard today and Dempsey who I can't stand and winced when I saw his name on the starting sheet proved to me he deserved to be there tonight. To play 120 minutes and work so so hard and then have it all get f*cked up by pens kills me. I can't explain how I feel other than just so so gutted as a supporter and I feel so bad for the players who worked so so hard for us.

I would much rather of crashed out in normal time.

I don't see how people can't see that penalties is such a mental blow to go out on.

Hopefully that's balanced out by the return of Bale, Lennon and Kaboul.

Dawson, true leader but he's way too inept as an all round defender... Kaboul & Verts next season.

We did so well to get this far in the competition we were outplayed by most teams throughout the competition riding our luck the whole way. Credit to Basel they were by far the better side in both legs; faster, stronger, more gifted, more creative and well organised

Now we have a break and need to get ourselves ready for a tough run in but the epl is lower quality than we have faced in Europe and we still have a chance for 4th place

Friedel might have had more chance of getting to their penalties if he started diving from his wheelchair.
From a standing start he was never going to get down in time.:)

They could have told him which way to dive and he still wouldn't have got them

Standard overreactions from fellow spurs fans. We actually played ok. Never mind the penalty shootout we were without 3 key players in sandro, lennon and bale and still put in a decent performance this 2nd leg, despite the dire performance at home. Why after every loss do some people think that is the end of our club. We have a good team, which just lacks depth and could do with investment up front and at LB.

Lets just hope we have the character to come back and take a place in the top 4, it is still in our hands, then hopefully AVB will be backed and can invest where needed.

Gutted for the lads. Worked their hearts out. Fuck adebayor. Im more pissed at the pass he never played to Sig when we had our only break of extra time. Could have sunk them there and then and the **** never got his head up

verts definitely got a touch on the ball - and the second goal came for a corner that should have been a goal kick!

If Adebayor didn't step up to take a penalty then maybe, maybe people could question his commitment tonight.

Otherwise shut up and think before you talk.

It was always going to go to #### with our penalty record. We did alright with what we had and showed some guts. If someone at the beginning of the season showed you our starting line up for tonight you would have thought it was a reserve match. I really think we couldn't do a lot worse than to put a bid in for the two Basel wingers, we need some players with pace for back up if Bale and Lennon get injured. Anyway, chin up and let's finish in the top 4! COYS!

Some of you really need to re evaluate your lives.

Seriously, it's pathetic in these threads at times. 10 men, long night, tough opposition and we go to pens. Huddlestone steps up and everyone says well done, very brave. Siggy, good penalty, very brave. Adebayor misses and the reaction from some of you is absolutely disgusting.

Yes he hasn't had a great season, yes he's played poorly a lot lately. However the sheer amount of abuse, swearing and just general small minded abuse is ridiculous. The moron who said "fuck off and die", my god I hope you haven't got children because I hate to think how you would be raising them if that's the absolute best you come out with.

Some players get backed and some get criticised. I get it, Ade's been poor all season but calling him every name under the sun and wishing death on him is really going to help turn him around isn't it. Oh, and no before anyone says it, no it isnt "being passionate" it isnt "wanting the best for the team" and it isn't "just frustration" it's pathetic small mindedness and the exact reason that a lot of other clubs fans take digs at us for the stupid attitude of a section of our fans.

Support the club, support the players. If they play badly then by all means say so, criticise all you want but hopefully some of the people in this thread tonight will have a long hard look at their posts agin tomorrow because a minority of people here have been an absolute embarrassment to the club with their comments tonight.

Can't post anything other than swearing and wishes of death, go somewhere else, theres plenty of other forums for you to go and act a moron on.

The thing is, I am not slating on Ade either but he hardly put in a brilliant shift. I mean he was better than what he's been but did you see Dempsey of all people working his socks off. Adebayor was just sitting around up top which I know someone has to be up there but for the love of god man at least make and effort. He's the tallest guy on the pitch so surely he could of at least given more in the air which he failed to do 90% of the time!!!!

anyone can miss a penalty but do you ever feel confident when the bloke is in front of goal? i don't fault his workrate, just his intelligence.

Wonderful effort from most of the boys. Played with pride and determination.

As far Ade, bad penalty but didn't have the worst game.

Biggest mistake was playing Brad. Decent keeper in our time but should not be playing in the quarter final of European competition.
