AVB first to get sacked

got a shock today when I checked the odds on paddy power for first managerial casualty. AVB was 3rd favorite behind Pardew and Laudrup. Is Levy really considered that fickle? Or is it because the media thought Harry was doing a great job and still got sacked?

at 11/1 I wouldn't advise putting any money on it anyway, not even at 40/1 would I risk it.

Probably just a last chance for them to get some extra money from bitter Chelsea fans.

I think Levy is considered a little trigger happy when it comes to sacking managers. He's been chairman for 12 years and has had 7 managers, not including Pleat as care taker.

But I genuinely don't know why they'd rank him that high to go!

Maybe they think Bale's going to be sold and AVB will then fall out with Levy?

It is next to depart, not first to be sacked there is a difference ;), Laudrup and AVB both are high on the list because of the media posting stories that certain teams (PSG, RM etc) want them as their new manager.

Many in the media hate AVB simply because he is foreign and had the misfortune to replace the media's favorite son Harry Rednapp, I would suggest that it appears that a lot of the football media in England would be delighted to see AVB fail and Spur's fail also. They can go do one as far as I'm concerned. AVB is a first class manager and hopefully is here to stay for many years to come.

Well Blanc is PSG manager and Ancelotti is Real manager, so they haven't got that excuse anymore.

Agreed. The media have a hate-boner for AVB. It all stemmed from his time at Chelsea. They ripped him apart because he couldn't cope with the insane egos of Terry and his chums. They're just itching for him to fuck up next season.

What the media thinks has little relevance to the odds. Odds are simply about money

Far more likely to be what RButch said

The media does play a part. They have constantly been linking AVB and Bale away from Tottenham for the past couple of months and that would have an effect on the price given.

It's such a quiet market I would imagine a few reasonably sized bets would change it significantly. Look how Hoddle to Brighton fell recently after a little bit of ITK and the subsequent bits that came about.

I imagine there are a few out there that went out and out money on AVB as soon as the stories of him to either Real or PSG emerged, changing the price.

What price Mourinho ?

Thats funny, cos Mourinho, Moyes and Pelegrini (?) were the least likely to lost they're jobs @ 50/1 +. Can't find the odds on PP today for some reason.

I always took the bet to mean the first manager to depart once the season starts. Which kinda rules out anyone leaving the job then because once the season starts they tend to be committed to the job that they won't quit 10 games in.

Yes, you win my 'winner' tag. It all makes sense. The media influence the bets. The money influences the odds. I misread the bet thinking it was only in effect when the season starts so would only realistically be sackings.

Unless we're in the relegation zone in November i'm sure he'll get another full season.

If he finishes 5th or lower then the next season then he'll to start 14-15 very strongly to avoid getting the boot early
