If your not from Oxfordshire you probably won’t get this.

however, I’m curious to see how many of my fellow Spurs fans play / know Aunt Sally.

don't play it, but am aware of it. it's in most of the pubs around here (deepest darkest Oxfordshire).

Is an aunt Sally an old school name for a lesbian?

EDIT. I hasten to add my post wasn’t a piss-take one. I heard a phrase used regularly in a work of fiction - now I can’t recall it whatsoever

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe Aunt Sally is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

I’ve since searched and can’t find any reference to it. But I’m pretty sure I’m the 1920’s a gay woman was discreetly called an Aunt ? Something. Bugging me now.

dunno, but my searching helped me find out that the French call it 'game of carnage' which couldn't be further from the truth!

Matey, grew up in the countryside just outside of Reading. The game was played in quite a few pubs round there that I used to drink in. Now I live in Streatham and no one has ever heard of it.

So tonight saw the division E power houses plough (west hanney) take on the black horse (east hanney) in the much anticipated NWD.

Whilst winning one leg each before drawing the third. The plough overcame east Hanney in the beer leg sending the crowd home happy (pissed).

Which is why you've named yourself EaMidSpurs and not OxfordshireSpurs?

I came across one of those dolly supports way back in the '70s and didn't know what it was until some 800 year old guy became excited about it and then told me what it was.
He said something along the line of "you'd sit your mother-in-law on it and throw battens at her" there was no aunt with the find but apparently it's very rare to find one.

Edit. I've just googled it and it's still a thing! ??

What a shame that cultures becoming so homogenised now that things like this must be being lost daily, all over the world. Right up to languages. I think its a real shame
