12/30/2008 8:40 PM Atletico Madrid Offer Luis Garcia To Spurs

Atleti's Little Luis might be on his way back to England next month.

The Daily Mail reports that Atletico Madrid attacker Luis Garcia could be set for a loan switch to Tottenham Hotspur in January.
The Spanish international has struggled to make an impact during his second spell at the Vicente Calderon, as the likes of Simao and Maxi Rodriguez are well ahead of him in the pecking order.
Thus, los Colchoneres have offered the former Liverpool favourite to a number of Premier League clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.
But Spurs are thought to be the chief target, as manager Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to recruit a new left-winger during the winter.
The former Pompey boss has been hounding Boro for Stewart Downing, the 24-year-old English international, but the Teesside club remain reluctant to sell one of their high-profile youth products.
And with the Lilywhites' transfer kitty looking rather empty at the minute, a six-month deal for the experienced and wily Garcia may be just the ticket.

Soon to be appearing at the Daily Mail.

If we dont get any of our main targets, no harm in taking him on loan. Id rather that than panic buy on the transfer deadline. but it always worries when a player is offered around, basically means they are shit

Great little player, dunno why they sold him. Not much chance of it being true if it's in the Mail, though.

He'd be a very good loan deal. I remember Liverpool fans were suprised/disapointed to see him leave.

Based on how he played at Liverpool he'd be a great signing. He could play just off a striker meaning Modric could concentrate on his midfield play rather than trying to be a midfielder and a striker all in one.

It's been a couple of years now though and I'm not sure how he's played in Spain. It's always a bit concerning when a player gets 'offered' to another club.

typical harry bargain basement signing - available on a loan and probaly cheap enough if we wanted to make it permanent. if he doesnt work out then would hardly cost us too much so a signing like this cant do any harm especially with our lack of creativity in midfield at the minute

How has he been playing in Spain? I always thought he looked better for Liverpool when they were playing in the Champions League

this would be great, especially on loan with a view to buying him in the summer.
always rated this guy and thought he'd be a great "spurs type player"

I really like this guy when he was at Liverpool. Would jump at the chance to have him on loan and see how he does he's got real quality.

On loan he would be a great little coup. Reminds me a little bit like malbranque..

He scored a great goal against us at anfield when we drew 2-2, definetly outshone though by erik's effort from 40 yards out; and who can forget his goal against juventus in the CL for liverpool.

We could do with a player who can score a long range goal or two.
