These was my first thoughts initially - may also be Josh King who has said he wants to go to United I think.
I was actually thinking Costa was the high profile striker that we were 2nd choice for. Given his relationship with Jose it makes at least a little sense.

Am I crazy for preferring Chris a wood to him?
No, I prefer other PL strikers we were linked with than Milik also. He is a strange one. He is technically better then King, Wilson or Wood, but with them you know exactly who you are buying. Milik is little bit like Gedson but in forward. You're not sure what he does there. I think he would be best in two with Kane but could struggle as single striker. I'm afraid about his physicality and finishing. He missed like 5 sitters in last friendly. He is known for missing a lot of chances.

You are. As Polish I'd be happy to see Milik in our shirt, but I'm afraid he will be too expensive for us, anything below 35 Mil will be a bargain.
For his club he's really good player and Juventus' interest doesn't suprise me at all (to be fair: it's possible they were interested in Milik with Sarri behind the wheel - he coached him in Napoli, and now when he's gone it's not so straightforward), but the guy is ready for his next step.
For Poland, he gets along with Lewandowski well, so I guess he could play with Harry, too - but keep in mind our team plays 4-4-2, he can't play on wing and Harry would make a better 10.

He's also known for fucking up A LOT of chances, even really easy ones. Remember Napoli-Liverpool in CL group stage last season, he had a really tough ball in the box, masterfully controlled the ball (which wasn't easy at all) and then fucked up the shot with goalie on the ground already - if he scored, Liverpool wouldn't make the playoffs . He also had his ACL torn 2017, but he got over it.

FR said he's waiting on Juve as he was a choice of Sarri but Pirlo now has 2 others he prefers, if they don't happen they'll go for Milik, if not then he'll look at other options such as us, could be the guy ITK said are pissing our TC off as considers us back-up option probably to Juve. Good player but just shows how the TW is such a merry-go-round and also how its all a domino effect so when people complain oh just sign a striker already its not always that simple especially in a key position where we don't want to just settle for our 8th choice when if we hold out long enough we could end up with say our 2nd or 3rd choice and a top top player such as Milik rather than a Gregorz Rasiak quality signing.

Although if it were me I'd rule this guy out if he doesn't see us as his first choice, I know players have options and preferences and fair enough if he prefers Juve over us as he already plays in Italy etc but I'd rather if say for example a sightly 'lesser' player such as Callum Wilson saw us as his dream move and would run through walls playing for us then I think that extra effort and desire would nearly make up for the difference in quality. So its all a fine balancing act.

Since Milik presumbly would cost more than some of the other alternatives, I would guess that this one could only happen if we manage to sell at least Aurier, and maybe also someone else.

Someone like King we could perhaps afford anyway, provided that Bournemouth would sell at a price which actually reflects that he is out of contract next summer.

If we can somehow get this guy in on top of Doherty Hart and Hojbjerg it would really look like we are having a fantastic window.

Does his contract end next summer? He is definitely a class above some of the others we have been linked with! Can't blame him wanting to hold out and see if he gets a move to Juve.

I get a sense that Milik may prefer Roma over us also, given he'd be remaining in Italy and would presumably be a starter. In that case the key may lie in whether Inter follow up their interest in Dzeko (some rumblings they're waiting to "pounce" once Juve are officially out of that particular race).

It's all one big merry-go-round that should kick into gear when Suarez completes his move to Juve. Hopefully we'll see relatively quick movement from us at that point, whether on Milik or an alternate choice.
