I think this is going to be another nervy one considering injuries/illness/suspensions.

I know nothing about them, or whether they're an attacking team, but I hope they come out and play instead of putting 10 men behind the ball. I don't fancy trying to break them down with the likes of Son, GKN or Sissoko playing. I feel we'd be better on the break.

From The Guardian, today -

Apoel, the Cypriot champions, have proved a tough nut to crack at their home ground in recent times. They have won nine of their last 11 European ties there, losing only one, to Anderlecht in the last 16 of the Europa League last season, and they have conceded just five goals during the sequence. The scalps they have taken include Olympiakos and Athletic Bilbao. The atmosphere promises to be hostile.

Unfortunately for me the Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid tie has been chosen for the free to air slot on TV3 here in Ireland, with BT/ESPN showing ours. ( I don't got that )

Highlights for me on TV3 after 10pm then.

Don't get me wrong, I'm massively excited and I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but with our depleted squad playing against a team we know very little about it feels like one of those very tricky, cagey Europa League games we used to have to endure.

Either way, as soon as the CL music plays and Harry bags a couple I'm sure I'll be as happy as anyone else.

We should beat them, Inexcusable if not. It's just one of those types of matches. I'm in on the 442 suggestions with Llorente and Kane, would love for it to happen.

We've been concentrating so much on Real Madrid and Dortmund that I wonder if we are writing them off too easily.

Everyone is saying we need to win both these games. Their home record suggests this could be tougher than we had assumed.

this is going to be just like all the Europa League away games against terrible sides on bad pitches with appalling officials.

A few years ago they only lost 1 nil away to Barcelona and PSG in their group games too (although Ive no idea how many players remain) so I think it won't be easy. Real Madrid only beat them 3 nil so they won't be a piece of piss to play against.

We just need to be sensible with our passing and respect them and we should hopefully be ok.

Its Europe so its a given.

I know its terrible, but we need to learn to fall over to get free kicks. All the opposing teams do it and we need to wise up quickly.

Looking at the TVs listings the match is shown on bt sport/espn channel, is that on freeview?
Remember one of our champions league matches was shown on freeview last season and can't remember what channel it was

Expect to be at work for the first half and home for the second half. I fully plan on watching the first half on my phone through the bt sport app though, and if anyone from work has a problem with that then they can SUCK MY MOTHER FUCKING DICK.

From BBC Sport:

  • Apoel have lost 10 of their past 12 Champions League games (W1 D1). They have also failed to score in 10 of their past 13 outings, remaining goalless in each of their most recent five games.
  • Apoel have never kept a clean sheet at home in the Champions League group stages (nine games).
