i thought he was ok, but nothing more.

we was generally good and had a decent work ethic, displayed by his being very far forward even at the end of 120 minutes, but i often found he was poor in tracking back if we lost possession, whilst the one vivid memory i have of chimbonda during that match is him getting the ball out wide and in space and delivering an awful cross into the box.

the only cross that was decent turned out to be the assist but even so, all i have to do is think of hutton's cross to bent against the spammers and i know what we are missing

He had a very good game, really impressed me. But maybe that was to be expected because he is kinda fighting for his future!!

Strange as it sounds, I think that's one of my biggest gripes with him. I could forgive him for his other deficiencies if he could cross, but he can't. What I love in a full-back is not to be able to just support the winger - I want one that can put a lovely ball into the box if need be. That's why I like Steve Finnan so much at Liverpool. I believe he used to be a midfielder when he started out at Fulham, and it shows.

I just hate the amount of times Chimbonda gets himself into great positions, then either chickens out and rolls the ball to someone else, or goes for it, and invariably delivers a poor cross. It's all about technique. Watch Chimbo's when he crosses. It's bloody odd.

For EXACTLY the same reasons as Chimbonda.

Lee looks to attack, almost takes on his man, does all the hard work, then passes it back.

The starting full-backs in this match were simple evidence of where a lot of our problems lay while Jol was still in charge.

I'd personally offer Chimbonda a new contract. His such a useful player to have in the squad and has proved he can play in three separate positions very well...

but

Considering his age and resale value it wouldn't be suicide if we sold him having acquired Hutton and Gunter.

(I Personal think Chimbonda's a good alround footballer)

Lee on the other hand I don't understand as a player and should be sold.

Not entirely sure. Looked good getting forwards but was turned far too easily. And ultimately he is there to defend. Felt very sorry for him when he missed the pen though he looked absolutely gutted

Shamelessly stolen from COYS apparently this was in Chimbo's Q&A in the match program from the West Ham game.

Q When did you last take a penalty?

A That's easy. I don't take penalties in games. The last one I took was in training, I missed.

Chimbonda looks like the best left-back in the world today. (half time v Shitty)

He looks BETTER on the left truly.

At half time, I was undecided whether to give him an 8 or a 9 in the match ratings

Pity he doesn't do that every week, eh?

Good effort today though Pascallywag

I think Chimbonda is great to have on the bench as he can cover any of the back 4. Would like him to stay but can't see it. I don't think Gunter is ready to be back up for Hutton yet

From what I've seen Gunter looks more sound than Chimbonda. I really don't rate the latter at all.
