well, without Chimbonda's pass we wouldn't have made even an extra time...

I totally agree, thought he was one of the better players on the pitch, and put in one of his best performances for the club. Shame about the penalty.

He did alright, nothing great, nothing bad. Just unfortunate to miss a penalty in a shootout.

A bit predictable DC but goal aside, Berbs was very average. He kept getting caught in possession and he was trying flicks and tricks which werent coming off. He has had better games, even when he hadnt scored.

predictable BS :) Surely the word you're looking for is consistent :) I thought Berbs was MOTM for us - apart from the all-important goal - he stepped up to the plate superbly for the pen, also set up at least one good chance, did a lot of good work defending set pieces and was overall his general genius self - of course lots of things he tries don't come off - they don't for most artistic players- but just one piece of magic like that wonder goal last night and it's all worthwhile

PS - check the poll on this page - Berbs is way out in front as MOTM - with nearly 50% of the votes - and yes I've only voted once :)

I didn't think berbatov played particulary well... did some good things (and one very good thing!) but also some bad things... and lost the ball a couple of times that if it were *other members of our squad* they'd be getting raped on here!

yep but Chris - it's the old Hoddle/Ginola/Greaves debate, it's because he does the magic that the rest can't do, of course he gets forgiven other things. (by me anyway)

That match yesterday was a perfect illustration of why Berb is easily our MVP and is/will be sought after by some of the elite clubs of Europe

I've always been very tolerant of genius in a spurs shirt, I guess it's the romantic in me - others have different views - it's up to them

But go and look on the Legends series see the stuff that's written about Greaves and Ginola, similar will be written about Berbs in years to come

The cross for Berbatov's goal was fantastic - just a shame he couldn't have done that a bit more often for us as reckon he's going in the summer.

I said in my match ratings post that I thought Chimbonda was certainly a candidate for "man of the match" from a Spurs point of view, alongside Berbatov and Woodgate. It seemed I was the only one that voted him in as 'our best player' in the poll. Eek Yes....I was that man

He was immense last night and got up and down that right hand side for the full 120 mins. One of his best performances in a Spurs shirt. Gutted for him that he missed the Penalty but certainly not gonna judge him because of it.

Shame he'll be leaving in the summer. Would love to see him stay to offer fullback cover for Alan Hutton but can't see him swallowing that myself.

To be fair he did play well.

But to miss from 12 yards always amazes me...HOW????

Ok i have never played in front of 35,000 people but i have played in fornt of 1 man and his dog on a freezing cold sunday morning and never not hit the target! Not saying i scored them all but at least they went between the sticks!!

Well, he kept getting turned, they got a lot of joy down his side.

I feel that is the final nail in his Spurs coffin. His penalty miss, for all those that defend it, was atrocious. There is no excuse to miss the target from 12 yards.

With Hutton and Gunter in place I do feel Pascal will be deemed surplus to requirements next season.

Predators like Greaves need to be able to sense in advance where the ball is likely to be and be razor sharp to move there before anyone else does. This calls for a clear head and and ultra quickness in the first 5 yards.

The industrious runner chasing around will not have the mind to read the game properly nor the explosiveness required when a chance comes along. That's why all the best goal-poachers have always been termed lazy.

Must have been watching a different game..

I must come across like such a complete **** when we debate Chimbonda, but I can honestly say I thought he was very average once again last night. I know, I know I sound like a broken record, and I assure you 100%, I'm the first to clap when he has a good game, but I think I must have a totally different idea to what makes a good full-back to what 95% of you do.
