No regrets whatever happens next.
Excited, but then I always am at this point of the season.
Genuinely believe that a new era is beginning which we need
and which couldn't have happened under Harry who had run out of road.
Going worringly smoothly at the moment.
Ask me again after the Newcastle game.
Take a draw now?:)

no regrets from me, wish he'd gone this time last year after the very poor end to that season..all it ever was for redknapp was a job thats all! as soon as the england malarky started his head turned toward a bigger lump of ££££ notes.
what wont surprise me is that he will become the chavs boss as soon as de matteo fucks up!

As opposed to....?

Isn't that how it starts for every manager? Or are some of us so far detached from reality that we think Villas-Boas had a Spurs Duvet and Pillow Case when he was a kid?

in all truth I wish Redknapp had got the England job straight after Capello left. I know we might not have AvB now but I think that would've been best for all involved.

As we are now with AvB and some really exciting signings I am happy and only regret the delay in announcing AvB.

I was one of those who liked Redknapp. I was genuinely happy at his appointment and believed he would do a good job. I didn't believe he'd be able to get us into the CL in his first full season and when he did I really believed we'd found gold.

He filled gaps in the squad very well. In his first window he bought a midfield enforcer we'd been crying out for, cover in goal and centre back/right back and then two strikers with good Prem records who already knew our club.

The simple fact is he got results. Above any philosophy or ways of looking at managers that is always a postive.

But things started to change for me. I don't usually pay too much attention to the media but the way he was talking to the media was starting to wind me up. The inconsistencies with claiming his connection with the England job didn't affect the players but then his not being offered a contract did really didn't make sense. Everything he said started to feel like self-promoting.

Players like Bassong, Corluka and Krancjar who played very well in their first season for us were suddenly out of shape and playing poorly in their sporadic performances.

The gap-filling with players like Saha and Nelson didn't feel like a solution but a lack of a forward thinking plan. Despite taking us to 4th again I was losing a little bit of faith.

I'm not excited by AVB. Nothing to do with him, I just refuse to get excited by a manager until the season has actually started. I am excited though by our signings and apparent intent to spend. Spending is moving from Prem-proven, safe but limited players to exciting talents again.

Sure we might get the occasional Zokora or Pav but we might also get our next Berbatov or Modric.

So I have no regrets. I'm starting to believe again. Maybe it's because Levy is happier splashing money on these younger talents than the high wage demanders like Jo Cole who Redknapp wanted. I am liking the noises coming out from the club at the moment.

The way I see it Levy has a plan for the club to take us forward. Harry only had one year left on his contract and I think rightfully wouldn't have taken just a one year extention after the work he has done. It's pretty unlikely that he would have stuck around for another 3 years so the only logical thing to do from Levy's perspective was to make the change now. There would have been no point in Harry remaining in control next season only to leave at the end of his contract, once the decision is made you have to get the change done as quickly and as smoothly as possible and that is exactly what we've done.

It's a brave move by Levy and there is risk involved but to keep Harry would just be delaying the inevitable.

Oh and I also think Harry should go down as a Legend of the club and always be welcomed back, the last four years have been the best of my Spurs supporting life. I don't like seeing some of the sly digs people are giving him.

2 up against the arse only to let in 5. Redknapp liked his spurs team to let 5 goals in from time to time!

But I'll never forget the 3-2 at the emirates. The only person watching it in my SU, and was the only spurs supporter, I was going fuggin' nuts by the end of it.

All in all, there were lots of good times under Redknapp. My gut reaction is sad to see him go, but in hindsight, the conditions were perhaps right to see him off. I only hope this isn't another of Levy's brainfarts when it comes to sacking / appointing managers!

it would of been more entertaining than Roy's methodical approach but probably not as effective, doubt they would of topped the group under Harry...would of scored more and conceded more though.

England's problems run a lot deeper than just the manager, its not far off from being a moot point actually.

A leaf out of Spain's book comes too mind.

Agree. So it wouldn't be too offensive for us to have the redtops run the headline AVB succeeded on Harry's foundations?

Anyway I don't care what the press say.

Who gives a monkey's raw ass about those twat's... It is Levy's foundations... Levy's!!

Excited but with reservations...

Right now, we have no idea if AVB will be a success or not. IF he gets us 4th and plays as attractive football as we did for large parts of last year - he will be a massive success - and will only have equaled Harry.
I think that we will do worse next year than we would have if we kept Harry but AVB might be better in the long term (if he keeps his job).

People are praising AVB's signings but Jan V admitted he had not even spoken to AVB. Did he have anything to do with Sig??

We were all creaming oursleves over Santini and Ramos...

Sackign Harry seems like a big risk with a relatively small upside. But there is a positive feel to the club at the moment (which is really exciting) but how will you all feel IF we lose to Newcastle?

but how will you all feel IF we lose to Newcastle?

That it's the first of 38 league games and I hope to god fans dont all suddenly think we are certs for relegation and get on our team and managers case.

On topic, I would say I'm cautiously optimistic both for the season ahead and for the longer term future.

For those that were in favour of him staying at the club?

I have to admit, although I was in the pro-Redknapp camp, I'm pretty much completely over his dismissal now. Really, really looking forward to the new season under Villas-Boas.

I feel somewhat similar. I was a little gutted when Redknapp left and the wait for a new manager felt like we had gone 6 months without one.

But now I get the club is planning more for the long term and I'm really looking forward to the start of the season. I just wish we would get some big name (or future big name) signings competed asap.

I don't have any Harry regrets at all. His act was getting very boring as far back as September of 2011. We didn't need ITK during his reign. The man would just state what the club was up to despite the fact that being more subtle would have have helped things along, IMHO. Harry's appointment, from the get go, reeked of desperation. We needed to survive and he took us as far as any of us ever imagined. We were never going to get longevity out him. Given his failings with our position in the league it was inevitable that he would be gone. Especially, given his age and flirtations with the England job.

With AVB, there is a sense of a new beginning albeit with a foundation of the best players the club has ever seen. With that comes raised expectations, however. I do hope we give him more time than the rusky did over at Chelsea. This might not be a year long project. It might take 2-3 years to really see the benefits of the systems put in place.

On Another note, I remember one poster on SC mentioning how he hopes AVB gets canned by the rusky and we pick him up on the cheap. Sign that guy up as an ITK or a profit!

No regrets, sometimes change is good even when doing well, Harry was a big step for spurs and I will always be grateful but he became to egotistical and took his eye off the ball, then worse than that refused to shoulder any responsibility.

I like the appointment, I hope AVB has learned by his mistakes and if he has then we have one he'll of a manager, our Ramos era was similar to that of AVB and Chelsea, but this time I reckon as he actually speaks the language he will get across the real message, and we haven't got the clique that Chelsea have.

Martin Jol has taken us as far as he could! Ramos will take this club to the next level. He's got excellent experience in Iberia!

Wait, what was the question?
