The right side is where Dele does his best work from. If Martial takes that position, then Dele might become less effective. That's the problem when upgrading a team that's already pretty good. Any changes can have unintended consequences.

Would give us some damn fine options for different types of game though eh?

Martial/Eriksen/Dele
Eriksen/Barkley/Dele
Eriksen/Dele/Son
Martial/Eriksen/Son
Martial/Barkley/Son (cup games maybe)

More creativity when teams that sit back, more pace when we need to counter...it won't happen but I agree with others...we get Barkley and Martial...we win the league.

Graham Roberts effectively accused Mourinho of tapping up Danny Rose.

Assuming for the moment that this is correct, and it wouldn't surprise me, then the self-styled Special One's plan was presumably to get Rose for the oft-crocked and highly paid Shaw plus a smallish transfer fee.

By resuming our interest in Sessegnon and making clear that Martial is the player we want in any deal for Rose, we've effectively sabotaged and subverted Mourinho's not so cunning plan.

And I love it. :)

Mourinho would do pretty much anything to sabotage a rival. I wouldn't be surprised if he had tapped Rose up, even if he wasn't interested in him, knowing it would cause disruption to us.

Sooooo ....
If ManU can get Perisic ...
Perisic to ManU
Martial to Spurs
Rose to Manu
Sess to Spurs

Just a thought ...

Gards has disliked speculation on Balde being resurrected with ITK pointing towards a 'gamechanger'. Could it be Martial? Despite the absolute stretch of hurdles we'd have to go through?

He's also disliked my post pleading for another today. Perhaps the issue is with today, rather than the player

Agree was literally typing this as you posted

Surely either lemar or martial and with the fees quoted for lemar only thing I can see is mourinho (reluctantly) agreeing to sell martial or being forced to sell

Would be incredible

Is Martial a game changer? Don't know if he means to take us to a new level, if he does I would consider some one like Bale who is a game changer! But there is no chance of that.

Luke shaw is coming back from injury, Rose is still injured so can't see either player in a deal. Shaw has had a terrible 2 years with injuries not sure if we would gamble on him, his wages would be decent we could prob get RS for a shit tonne less when u factor in wages.

Martial is the signing that would take us on to be champions, which is exactly why Mourinho will never sell to us. Would love to be wrong, but I really, really can't see it. Not for Rose and cash, not for an extortionate fee; the guy isn't that stupid.

I genuinely think he could become world class if coached right and given more minutes.

Still only 21.

And this skill is just abnormal :

As I said earlier in a thread, one of the broadsheets was tipped off that we were seriously interested in Martial (and had been given encouragement from his agent). I got told about this and then a few hours later the Danny Rose story broke, and the nationals focused on that. Then a few days later suggestion of our interest broke on Twitter. Point being, I'm convinced there was more to this than just that guy tweeting about it. This would definitely fall into the difficult to do but game-changing category.
