That's the old (original) 'MW' formation - two full backs, three half backs, five forwards - two outside (right & left), two inside (right & left) and a centre-forward.

Some of the positional names live on but, for example, the centre halves (two nowadays) are positioned between the full-backs.

Certainly a more attack-minded formation than is normal today - almost the opposite to Sunday's 3-5-2! :violin:
