This post made me feel nostalgic for the old days of seeing Clubcall ads on Teletext. Suckered in by a headline next to Spurs of “TEENAGE SENSATION SIGNS”, then after 3 and a half mins of waffle about the preseason schedule at £1.50/minute, you finally find out we had offered a first professional contract to the captain of our U18s team.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I did used to call clubcall sometimes. I miss the days when the tabloids had the scoops and weren't just playing catch up on the online ITK.

I actually think he really needs to start tightening these things up now.

Running for well over an hour to talk about a very limited set of topics is not great.

At least script it a little bit Ally (bullet points in front of you), stop doing so much rambling and correcting yourself. We end up with a good 20mins these days of:

We'll have people saying 'Grrr Ally it's not X it's Y!'. Always makes me laugh when I read those comments. It's like, I'm just saying X or Y! Honestly people get so upset over such small things. It's like, when the story about player Z came out. And everyone was like, 'Grrr come on Spurs! Sign player Z!' And I'm just like, 'Come on guys! That's just not how things work.' This is Tottenham Hotspur we're talking about here. But this is a new Tottenham Hotspur, things are very different this year. That's why when I say it's Y, it really could be Y! Timestamps would be perfect, Most YT channels use them these days

I use to watch a lot of YT and in terms of delivery its not great. Its just a bloke in front over a camera.

He needs to jazz up that studio

Maybe get guests, some nice designs bit of music.

Or maybe he just sees it as a hobby, its not his real job

It's a bloke- a connected one at that- who happens to also be a fan putting out videos of info.
I don't like the music intros n all and IMHO he/it doesn't need a studio.
It is what it is -a bloke on a sofa in his home talking Spurs and telling us to keep an eye on everything!

I know a few years a go the trend was people viewing videos on YouTube were watching for longer. YouTube changed their algorithms to reflect this, so that could be a reason why he tries to hit an hour.

I still really like him, I'd happily go for a pint and talk Spurs with him.
Having said that, I'm generally only watching 1 in 3 of his videos at the moment as a lot of his stuff is repetitive.
Obviously if nothing new is happening then it's not his fault.

He is clearly one of those people who can talk for hours. He is enthusiastic about his job and Spurs, I enjoy his videos, yeah I occasionally zone out but that's fine. He is one of the best Spurs journalists out there and wants to get as much Info to fellow fans as he can. If you don't like his style, don't watch. Someone will post up bullet points with an hour or 2

Surely if he done more shorter videos that are more direct he would get more views than if he puts out an hour long one, so is actually cutting down on his revenue by doing it the way he does it, as it would be better to have say 5 videos with 50k views than 1 with the same amount.

I actually like the hour videos and the less structured feel. As mentioned up thread they feel less like a generic fan youtube page. He's a good guy. I love some of his other quirks too; those funny voices.

The problem is they appear to be more regular these days so there is repetition and, as people are bullet-pointing the key points, less incentive to commit. He's oversaturating. Someone mentioned having another presenter and he does do one via his Gold and Guest Podcast. The content will pretty much mirror exactly the youtube videos but you get the two presenter set up. Rob Guest is a toffee but seems like a good guy although he absolutely butchers the English language.

Anyway, if you still occasionally drop in here, keep going Ally. COYS.
