On the face of it, financially this would be a better deal for Dele than Spurs. He'd be getting his base salary doubled. Spurs would only be extending his contract by one year (to 2023) IF the Mirror's correct.

But (a) that's how it should be, he deserves it and (b) best tackle any financial disappointment Dele could start to feel before it becomes a big issue.

And, of course, it would still be a good deal for Spurs too. Getting a boy of Dele's talent and value under contract until he's 27 yrs old or so, would be fantastic, alongside Kane (and others) for the long term. At best, he'll play for us and win trophies throughout the best part (or even all) of his career. At worst, the Spanish or whoever would have to dig so deep into their pockets it would make even their eyes water :)

Why would Dele go to Spain? If he joins Barca or Real Madrid his will be at one of the top two clubs in the second best league in the world. If he stays with us, he will be at one of the top two clubs in the best league in the world. With his mates next door and his Mrs happy.

And if he just wants more money, then why not just go to China?

I would be more worry about Man City (or even Chelsea) coming after him. But then Levy has to stand firm.
