Fuck me! I know it’s dog eat dog, but the lack of compassion you show for the club and it’s fans is astonishing.

Why is it? It’s the neglect of the football clubs owners, the FA and just common business behaviour that’s leads to a club being stripped of its assets.

Quick question.... would you pay more for a house because the person is in financial trouble or would you pay market rates which, unfortunately are always determined by the supply, demand, need and desires of trades. You can get a £500k house for £450k, do you or do you out of the kindness of your heart pay £500k? Let’s see how much compassion you have when staring down the barrel of realities gun. I don’t make the rules, that’s just how life goes and has done since day dot.

Do I feel bad for their club and it’s supporters? Obviously I do it’s a football club and a fan base who will fear for the thing they love but that doesn’t mean we don’t as a club look after our best interests as best we can. Anyone and everyone else would do the same.

I’d love to see football help other teams in need out, to go above and beyond ensuring that teams don’t get into trouble like Wigan seem to be but teams also need to take responsibility for what they do and need to be held account somewhat as to the risk of reckless financial behaviour otherwise they will know they get ways out, will spend more recklessly and it will lead to unfairness or an inability help all out as teams will just think to hell with it, let’s spend, off it goes to pot we get bailed out regardless. It’s a tough one to call but that doesn’t mean I don’t have sympathy for their predicament.

I understand your arguments, and I’m fully aware of the economics of business.

However, there comes a point where as a society, we need to take care of those who are struggling. It’s actually been happening in business for a while, as a social conscience sits much better with stakeholders, providing it’s backed up with appropriate actions.

And yeah, actually I do vote with my money, and pay a fair price rather than the minimum I can, when I can afford it, to support small/struggling businesses - especially in the current environment as we emerge post lockdown into a very different set of socio-economic circumstances.

But that wasn’t my point. It was around a lack of sympathy or empathy for the situation Wigan find themselves in - which looks like a callous tax write off by the owners at best, and something more underhand at worst. I’m pleased to see you express your sympathy for them, the world is a better place when we care about everyone rather than just us and ours.

Reading that article I‘ve never known a club to be put into administration so soon after being bought.

The owners are an absolute disgrace.

I've no idea who he is or if he is any good but I do like the idea of bringing in young talented kids.

Love this type of signing. Exciting, young prospect on the cheap.

But really feel for that club. The “new owner”(whose in bed with the gambling old owner) throws the club into administration right after buying them with rumors abound the old owner placed a huge bet on their relegation. Disgraceful. Hope they find a buyer and can settle that debt to avoid a further 15 point deduction to have a chance of staying in the Championship so there old owners get screwed.

Interestingly he signed a long term contract that was announced on 6 June. This was after Wigan went into administration so it appears they/he did this to get the most money from his sale.

So I don't think it's quite as bad as some are making out that we are purging them of their assett on the cheap and taking advantage.

What sort of midfielder is he?

He's ex-Liverpool, so I did a search on RAWK to find out.

Sadly, all I found out is that a ridiculously high percentage of Liverpool's fanbase can't spell 'divine'.

The twonks.

So I went searching for him on the Wigan site and found this article, which claims he switched from being a centre forward to an all-action midfielder.

I particularly like this quote.

'You can’t really take four or five touches on the ball otherwise the ball will be gone.'

Maybe he could teach one or two of our midfielders that...

Love this quote from the article:

"Following his release at 11, he took four months out of the game he loved and reflected on his time in the academy system."

It makes it sound like he was a grizzled pro taking a sabbatical to do some soul searching after years of toil.

He was fucking eleven. He probably just went to school, ate Haribo and played Fifa with his mates.
