Never seen this kid play but to those who've seen him: how would he do as a RMF you think?
What sets him "apart"? Walcott looked like world beater at that age due to his pace - which overshadowed his totall lack of ball control. Is more of a "balance" player?

The long and short of it is that no one has seen enough of him to really answer that. He's only played a handful of league games. But his goals and assists record is exceptional for a right winger. Contributes more than a goal scored or created every other game. He is quick but his delivery looks excellent and his feet certainly look better than Walcott's - even now!

However, as I say, it's such early days, so a punt whichever way you look at it. I suspect in our current position fans would be happier if we spent 10m on say Forlan or Elmander and maybe that's fair enough. But from the highlights and online footage, plus the reports from scouts and Saints fans, it isn't unreasonable to think that 10m might seem a bargain before long.

EDIT: Sorry, mate. Totally ignored your question. I suspect he'd be a very good RMF. He is also looking good right out wide by the sidelines. He's young enough that it may be a while until he finds his best position but hopefully develops to be able to play both well.

Plus Tommy Forecast.....

6m plus they got Forecast. Or 5m without him?

I went to watch Southampton today in a dire 0-0.

Chamberlain is clearly talented but lacks the extra pace of Lennon or Walcott to devastate at a young age.

His control and touch are very good and he uses the ball quite intelligently.

I can't see him rampaging through Prem defences yet and he should probably stick at Southampton and learn his trade for a bit longer.

Of course, this is only my impression after one match.

A lot of the Saints fans seem to rate 22 year old striker Adam Lallana at least as highly as AOC. Maybe we should put a bid in for him if we can't get any of the 437 strikers we are apparently about to sign!

I watched Saints a couple times a few years ago when in the Championship and was really impressed with Lallana. Was surprised a championship team didnt take him when they went down to L1.

Have a mate who is a ST holder there and he also rates Lallana as high if not higher than AOC even though they're very different players.

Lallana it was that won them the FA Cup game. With United next up he could be this year's Jermaine Beckford.
