I like to have managerial pretensions (close him down, stick your foot, someone give him an option!) but in general my negativity limits itself to a groan when someone makes a poor pass. However, there are some right muppets who must have sat out every game of football in PE because they were too stupid, as they seem to berate every single thing. If a player misplaces a pass, doesnt score with every shot, allows an opponent more than one touch on the ball in the 90 minutes then they must get slagged off

In general though I think most fans are quite well informed, and its just the atmosphere and tension that causes the rude outbursts

When I used to work on the turnstiles, I had the pleasure of serving many a moron.
Ah not so happy days.
No wonder I don't go back to The Lane much after that experience... *shudders*

You`re not the one who used to, er, take a drink as they say.
He was always very happy.

There's a guy in front of me who described Modric as a 'terrible championship footballer'.

I mean, that takes stupidity to levels that I didn't think could exist.

Did he go by the name of Stemark?

or Gibbs

i remember ages ago, Berbatov's first pre season and two guy is suits sat a few rows behind said he wouldn't mount to anything

I got told off by the missus for shouting "man on" at our players but if he hears and it prevents a tackle then its worth it

There is a guy who sits near me in the shelf lower with I think his young son & I think its his daughter and older son (im guessing) its abit strange as there is never enough seats for the 4 of them but no one has ever mentioned it. Also really strange as they always disappear at half time. Anyway the language the dad uses is appalling always swearing and shouting at our players if we are losing or the opposition through the first half some times you cant even understand what he is saying! Some of the stuff he does shout when you can understand it is rubbish!

Last season watched the first half of the Liverpool match at home and went down into the stand to meet up with a couple of others fans we went with. One of them was telling us how we had been all over them and they were lucky to be one nil up, yet to my recollection we touched the ball about 5 times in the whole flippin half!

Everyone shouting Jedward at Kovac and Behrami was funny against West Ham but then doing it all the time got boring and eventually became nonsense.

Agree. I don't get to go to the stadium so much these days, having moved outside London and with the three children now, but every time I went to WHL there always were at least a couple of "those fans" who made me wish I didn't have to sit near them and listen to their commentary throughout the match.

Yet somehow, for certain people here, (cough, S..B! and coyboy, ahem) it seems the fact that they are attending most of the matrches at WHL proves their opinions should matter much more than someone's who is not able to spend almost a whole day to travel to watch football at the stadium.

How original, no we are saying our opinions matter more than people who spout rubbish like Redknapp is deliberately stopping us getting into Europe and that he is prejudiced againt players he inherits. That sort of unsubstantiated garbage.

There are plenty on here that I am sure don't go to many games but they write generally common sensical posts and do not bear grudges against players and managers nor do they use every thread, even a benign, fun thread like this, to attempt to score points off other posters. But congrats for ruining it in trying to defend yourself against your crazy ideas and lack of support for our team. Bravo.

So listen to this. Being from Malta, I can only 'occasionally' get to see a match at White Hart Lane.

The season before last, I went to see us play Slavia Prague in the UEFA Cup. There sat next to me, was this bloke from the Balkans and as the Spurs fans started singing ans screaming 'Yid Army', 'Yid Army' I joined forces,of course! So, this Balkan guy turned to me and in broken English asked me '' What are you say ? What are you sing ? '' and he kept on and on about it for about 10 min., at least !

Now, you tell me how you would have explained what Yid Army stands for, to a complete stranger at the Lane from the Balkans ! :bang:

Recent one vs West Ham, ignorant p***k who sits behind said " Fuck off Keane you Irish **** " as he came off the bench with two others to warm up first half...unbelievable...

Against Arsenal at the 2 - 2 (I think) game a few years ago " Thierry Henry, he's a black **** "....

I could add a load more but I try and forget them if I can, does put me off going though the negativity on display, even when we are winning...

I've relayed this story a few times recently but what the hell, I'll go again.

At the Emirates 2 years ago the guy sitting next to me was berating Jenas from start to finish, all the usual nonsense about JJ and he was 'educating' his unfortunate kid about how poor he was too.

I didn't have the bollocks to tell him that Jenas was injured and it was in fact Boateng that he was berating.

Super Pav - he's not super..

i made this comment on Saturday after everyone starting singing "super Pav" - "thats the last time he'll hear that" to ripples of laughter !!!

Supershite would be more appropriate.

Sitting in the same seat now for 7 years we have built up a nice group of friends of the guys that sit around us in the South Upper.

Nick who sits behind me used to be a nightmare C*** this a c**t that. Now he has matured he is a really nice guy but for a season he was a mare.

I like to shout things to get everyone going around us. 'Get up Defoe' for headers, 'Charlie skin him for pace' and 'Keane for f*cks sake learn to head a ball'......Finally 'Defoe you are useless, learn the offside rule'.....Always gets a laugh around me (but are they laughing with me or at me ? Who cares they haven't moved seats.

i can't remember the game now but it was when robbo was our goalie and fumbled the ball in front of chimbonda - chimbonda failed to clear and they scored.

the man in front of me clasped both hands to his face and exclaimed 'bloody hell chimbonda clear the f*ing thing'

f* off keane very common since he came back from hub cap nickers

there's also a bloke that breathes a huge sigh of relief every time gomez comes out to claim the ball - oh hold up that's me - i know he is brilliant - i just can't get his 1st season out of my mind
