All in on Burnley/Sheff U. I'm not especially optimistic about the other remaining games (we'll likely now win all of them and lose the other two knowing us). Should be enough for 5th which is about what we deserve this season.

Very positive signs but yawning gaps still present as expected.

Burnley and Sheffield has to be 6 points. If we give up points here we don't deserve to finish fifth.

Ange has given this bunch of losers an opportunity easy out with his “I don’t care about top 4” statements. Today was pathetic, the same as Fulham. If this team get champions league then we’ll be embarrassed on A weekly basis, Europa is our level.
So there's no improvement to be had next season with players moving on and new ones coming in, you're just going to judge next seasons team right now?

that’s all we can judge it on as we don’t know what changes will be made. That’s why I also said if “this team”. For me it doesn’t really matter what players we sign, the kamikaze tactics that he employs is not going to cut it in the premier league or Europe. We get exposed time and time again and cut open at will.

No, it's not all we can judge it on, we can apply some balance rather than make sweeping generalisations. And as for being exposed and cut open at will, fuck me, if that's the case, how on earth are we challenging for a spot in the Champions League when we're just a southern Sheffield United in drag. There are of course valid criticisms and frustrations but some of it is a smidgin over the top mixed with two tablespoons of reactionary.

I'm sorry, I know some people thrive on negativity but I just can't be a slave to the doom and gloom, overall, we're on an upward curve, things are so much better and we're heading the right way, next season holds promise and I prefer to look at the overall picture and be positive. None of this 'weekend ruined' crap, stuff like yesterday comes with the territory. As it says in my sig, I got 99 problems and the Spurs ain't one of them.

Anyway, there's nothing I can say that'll change someone's mindset or outlook, I know that, but fuck me that's even more frustrating than this club is :D

To improve our chances I should hope that Arsenal beat villa and then Bayern. I don’t want either to happen. Happy for villa to get something and Bayern to knock them out of the CL. Think that the Europa may be better anyway as we would have a real chance of winning it.

What is your definition of "cut it"? We're 5th despite all the ups and downs, that is two or three places above where most predictions had us.

I also don't understand the argument that "we aren't ready for the CL" that so many are making on here. We have a full summer window and pre season to prepare for it, if the next summer window is as good as the last we will be ready. That is the bar that has been set.

Now having said that I'd rather win Europa than be dumped out in the RO16 of the CL, because I want to see us win a trophy. But that is of course by no means a guarantee even with the change of format and CL teams no longer dropping down.

The appeal of 4th was massively lessened for me by the realisation that I've not enjoyed basically any game in the CL since Ajax. Conte's run in it was so turgid and both the Leipzig and Milan games were two of the most deflating experiences I've seen.

Not saying I don't want us in it, I think we still will (one of City/Villa/Arsenal will get to the final at least), but it's not the be all and end all for me like it was a decade ago.

Conte is notoriously shite at European games.

Anges European record at Celtic left a lot to be desired, but he has much better players here.

Could be a fun CL run.

Well fair play to Villa, to go to Arsenal and take all three points they probably deserve fourth. At least we will really need to earn it with the fixtures coming up

Once again Arsenal crumbling, though, hopefully Bayern can finish off the meltdown

Nothing like watching Moura's hat tricks or Bale dominate Maicon. We don't have anyone right now who can produce that kind of magic IMO. Maybe Bergvall, Moore, Donley, Lankshear become one of those types. I would still love for us to be in CL, love hearing that anthem when we play.

Oh I'd definitely rather be in it than not, but last season was so miserable it sort of burned me.

I fully expect City to get through anyway, Villa too, so we'll just have to do our best and hope it works out.
