I'd really love to have a proper crack at the EL, something we've never done before. With no drop down from the CL we'd have a really good chance. What a fantastic achievement that would be for the club. As opposed to going out of the CL in the early stages with no drop down. I'm sure Mr Levy wouldn't agree with me though.

We've come much closer to winning the CL than we ever had in the EL.

Liverpool just got done in the EL.

If we're going out in the knockout rounds, I'd rather play Madrid, Barca, and Bayern on our way there than FC Carrierbag

Yeah I get your point, but our failure in the EL year after year is an organisational issue for the club and not a reason to denigrate the competition. We are much better equipped to do well in the EL than we are in the CL.

I don't think we are at all.

In the era of FFP, the extra money from the CL is huge.

Players still value it as a competition. If we don't start qualifying for it, players will leave for someone that does.

Players that we want to sign will choose other clubs because we're not in it. Not because they're are wishy-washy, but because they are highly competitive and want to test themselves at the highest possible level.

Then there is the prestige. I want to watch us playing the biggest teams in the world.

The greatest moment for me as a football fan was that night in Amsterdam.

I can't even remember a ropey league game that we've played.

6 more points guarantees us 5th place and that assumes one of Man U, Newcastle or Chelsea win all their remaining games.

I'd say it looks more like 63 points will get us there.

Now do we want Woolwich to beat Bayern?

Is it not 9 more points?

One of Man Utd and Newcastle can get to 68 points ( not both as they play each other)

Geordies fixtures looking mighty kind on paper. You'd have to think their GD would be higher than ours come last game aswell.

But. .yeah I'm defo meh to the whole CL or bust.

That 10 point gap could largely disappear very fast when you look at the next few games coming up, especially with us having yet another annoying break. Then we have 6 games in 3 weeks . Are we up to that ?

Ange has given this bunch of losers an opportunity easy out with his “I don’t care about top 4” statements. Today was pathetic, the same as Fulham. If this team get champions league then we’ll be embarrassed on A weekly basis, Europa is our level.

To be honest one of the worst things that's come out of our recent games is our lack of a good enough mentality and application. We went out with a whimper away to Fulham without looking like scoring, lacked any sort of killer instinct away to West Ham, barely testing Fabianski, and lost in poor fashion today without looking like scoring for the large majority of the game. It was the same a bit further back away to Everton, not able to impose ourselves enough, rise to the challenge and show our 'superiority'.

It's why that Chelsea game, even with them in the most dog shit state they've been in for years, I can't be greatly confident of us winning.

I can't see us getting anything against Citeh Arsenal or Liverpool, and if we play like today Chelsea will beat us easily too. We need Villa to have a bad end of the season to get 4th.
Funny cause when we had our worst run of the season and were down to bare bones our only positive result was against City.

Football is a funny game and none of those 3 teams will set up to combat our weaknesses, they will play their natural game and that will suit us.

Neither team needs to combat our weakness as their natural game shits all over us every day of the week. City should have been 4 up at half time against us but we got lucky., likewise the FA cup game they should have put 3 past us. We won’t get so lucky next time.

9 points it is. We can get that. My concern is needing 3 points on the final day to guarantee 5th. Playing an already relegated team …
