It is. Our first defeat was the derby in the 8th game.

Yea just checked. We had a +11 GD so technically the start last season was better. So a point or more next week I think makes it best PL start ever

Honestly, first 7 games we beaten United, Liverpool and drawn with Arsenal - whatever way you spin it, it’s fucking impressive!

I think AFCON will be a big test, losing Bissouma and Sarr.

I don't want to get carried away. Newcastle and Villa are looking better every week and Liverpool and Arsenal will continue to smash teams.

City look vulnerable on the transition though. Playing 4 CBs comes with the caveat that the ones out wide aren't as quick as FBs. Might see a few others doing to City what Wolves did yesterday.

Last time I checked, Brentford are one of the games during that spell and they lose Mbuemo and Wissa. I may have dreamt that though.

Depth will be our downfall, unfortunately.

We’re one Maddison injury away from struggling.

If we can keep him fit though, who knows what we can achieve…

And losing Udogie, any of our starting CBs and Son. We have good cover for Bissouma but he's so much better than others.

I don't disagree that we're competing against all those three but we aren't not competing against City, Arse and Liverpool. We're properly in the mix after this start and the only team in the current top 8 with no Europe.
I believe if we get the better of Newcastle, Brighton and Villa then everything else will fall into place. I am talking about Champions League qualification and not winning the title.

If you look at Chelsea when they won the league in 16/17 it was with one game a week. They finished 10th the season before so no European football. Their attack relied on Hazard and Costa being available all season and what helped Conte was the gaps midweek to really instill his three at the back system defensively.

We came second that season with 86 points. I don't think our depth was good then and we played more games being in Europe. In fact if you consider our third choice central midfielder was a young Eric Dier back then but now are fourth choice (once Bentancur is back) will be Hojbjerg that central midfield looks a lot more robust than we're used to. It wasn't signing anyone new but reshuffling the pack because Conte here didn't utilise Bissouma and Sarr.

I feel comfortable if we have an injury at CB that Davies can come in and deliver. In 16/17 he wasn't a CB option. And of course we still have Dier on the books who can play.

I don't think we will win the title because the one concern I have is if Son is injured there is no goalscoring instinct up front. Richarlison has the opposite instinct of the ball bouncing away from him. But I think we will get top four and it won't be a case where we finish behind the champions by double digits in points.

i hope we get at least a CD and backup striker in winter (also a DM if PHE goes). besides Son, no one really can score.

We might get a player that we already have stepping up and banging in some goals for us. Like when Super Pav started scoring some goals on the way to getting top 4.

Although the difference being the way we are playing now. This feels sustainable whereas the beginning of last season felt like we were winning points in spite of playing poorly. It seemed like we were going to have to step up a gear last season to keep winning points or our luck would run out. And it did.

Cheeky bid for Harry Kane in january? Bayern will have wrapped up the German title by then, and Harry will get his medal anyway. We can always sell him back to them for the Champions League final in June if they get there.

Wouldn't be so sure of that.

I dont think we can contend with city for the title in the long run, but I'd say 2nd is def a possibility with how we're playing
