Europe would be my answer.i would rather us play well and come 6th than poorly and 4th. For once i am not going to get hung up on results.

We're gonna win the league.

If injuries are good to us, and we get a couple more in in January, we could finish anywhere between 2nd or 6th.

City are obviously well clear.

Arsenal overachieved last year and we could be to this season what they were to last, it’s not infeasible we could be very close to them. I don’t believe they are very far ahead of us.

Chelsea, Liverpool, United, Newcastle? None of them are better than us.

There will be bumps and setbacks, but we are good and we can make the top 4
That’s what I find so potentially exciting about this season.

Lots of questions over the squad, getting rid of fringe players etc.

But at the same time the 1st team are looking excellent with Bentancur to come back and the likes of Solomon and Johnson to settle in.

With no European football and being out of the EFL cup, our league campaign could be very exciting.

I feel our season hinges a lot on injuries. We have no depth at CB or CF. One injury to either position and we are in trouble.
Centre back is the main worry for me. I actually think that we can still win a lot of games with a CF injury. Son, Brennan and Richy can all play there (probably in that order)

An injury to Udogie will also create a large loss in quality. The boy's such a presence when he moves into the middle. Davies can't do what he does.

This part could very well decide our season.

Any substantial injuries to key players like Biss, Maddison, VdV or Romero and we're in trouble.

If they stay healthy we could very well challenge for top 4 with an outside shot at the league.

Agreed, I forgot about the 1 game a week factor too, not to be underestimated.

It was a bad end to the window, but our starting 11 is stronger and playing to a different level to last season.

Imagine we kept Harry? Fuckkk :D

I think everything up to 2nd is in play at this moment. We need to avoid key injuries as others have said. But we will predominantly have 1 game a week vs 2 for much of our competitors. So we should hopefully have a relatively good season for injuries in general plus most of our players will have had 5-10 games less than our competitors come April/May and should be in better shape

Looking at upcoming fixtures - Sheff Utd at home 'should' be a win and then we play Arse after they have played midweek in the CL and then Liverpool at home. Really hope for a draw between Arse and Man U today because we could go into the NLD guaranteed to stay in the top 3

I am loving the number of games between competitors coming up. If we keep winning we could open quite a gap to 5th

The PL is ultra competitive this season with up to 11 teams having a reasonable case to make a European spot. Our huge advantage, and it's happened once before, is the lack of Europe this season. Hopefully this will be the last time for a while so we must take full advantage.
It also throws up an uncomfortable dynamic where we have to fight against our normal instincts and actually want all PL clubs in all the competitions to stay in as long as possible, preferably to lose in the semi finals, both to maximise their fatigue and to help the PL coefficient to ensure a 5th CL place. Irs going to be tricky but its for our own good!

Honestly - I prefer that we play with a bit more mobility and pace up front, and given he was always going to leave, I think we made the right choice.

We can be more tactically flexible too. Do we miss him? Of course. Net net are we better off? IMO, yes

I don’t think it’s just injuries, we are in form at the moment so it’s all positive, but we will hit a dip at some point I think and that’s when I think we will struggle for goals.

But I do like the squad going younger in direction, not convinced there will be a lot of value in the market in January and suspect we will likely only be buying if we have got ourselves in a whole.

I wonder if CL may come too early for this team and we may get our backside's handed to us. However with Europa or EC football or even no European football next season I would be concerned that we may be losing one or two more big players.
I agree with the sentiment above that I can see us finishing in the top six now which I didn't think was going to be possible before the season started. however that won't be easy.

I’d add Udogie to that list too as the drop off to Davies in terms of how we now want to play would be monumental.

Top 4, ManU, Chelsea and Newcastle won't be there. City will be above, probably Arsenal, possibly Pool, but last spot is there for taking. And getting past Pool is possibility too.

Has to be Champions League. Anything else is a massive disappointment considering we have no European or Carabao Cup games to worry about.

Arsenal didn’t have a dip last season, they literally started like us and just carried on. Without many injuries

I’m not saying we will give it a good go, but it’s possible.

I still don’t think we’ve played anyone very good yet. Our hardest game has been Brentford away. We can only play the teams in front of us of course, and we have looked very good. But I still think we are a bit of an unknown as far as consistency goes, and whether we can go toe to toe with the good teams in the division. We beat United convincingly, but they look shite right now.

Totally agree with this. Will be interesting to see when we come up against a quick, clinical side, of which there are several

Liverpool, Brighton, Arsenal, and obviously City could cause us a lot of problems. But then that goes both ways. Those games will be a lot of fun for the neutral.
