Nobody can expect perfection. Such a thing and human beings are mutually exclusive. VAR should at least guarantee consistency though. It seems to be baking in ever more inconsistency and even legitimising it at this point.
Because implementation in England is to protect the on field ref first and foremost.

Going down swinging. I must say I think they should've had at least 2 of the 3 penalties.

Christ. You'd have to hope (if you're Forest) that it's just one of their media team who's lost it and gone rogue - because if not the club have straight up accused the officials of match fixing. That's not going to go unanswered.

Boo, Villa. After the Destiny news (and how we've generally been playing recently) I'm now fully reconciled to finishing outside the top 4 but still, boo.

I truly don't think that's the case. From the start English football (the PL, pundits, supporters, refs) all wanted "minimum interference" because they didn't want the game slowed down too much. But over the last seven years every other nation has shifted the standard of clear and obvious to a lower standard that would see at least one of those PK shouts sent down. The PL is now (has has been for a few years) the global outlier in VAR and it has only caused more and more issues. VAR needs to be used more on the cases of "yeah the ref has gotten that one wrong" and not just "that's a total travesty on par with Henry's handball".

Stuart Attwell's Wiki has already been edited.

"On 21st of April 2024, Stuart Attwell successfully helped to rob Nottingham Forest of three penalties in their fixture against Everton, with Attwell himself being a Luton Town fan, delibrately not giving Nottingham Forest rightful penalties since that would hinder his beloved Luton's chances of survival."

Yeah I feel like they only need 2 or 3 wins from their final games unfortunately.

Blimey if NF really did raise concerns and they’ve let Atwell be VAR, that is appalling.
Howard Webb should’ve been cautious and put him on another game. It’s not even a full weekend!!
The last pen is as stonewall as you’ll see and it’s hard not to feel aggrieved.

I'm more curious what their source is. All refs at the top level declare what club(s) they support. They'd basically be accusing Attwell of lying to PGMOL which is a huge accusation.

It's clear there's issues with the officiating generally but we can't have clubs selecting which refs they will and won't accept.

Away from that hilariously childish club statement, I'd be quite happy if we just did away with VAR next season because it's clear we can't use it properly in this country.

No they're not, they're saying they didn't like the fact that a known Luton fan was on VAR, they're not saying he hid it from PGMOL. It's got Clattenburgs dirty little hands all over it tbh, he either knows all the officials and their allegiances or has a contact. That said, I assume it's fairly common knowledge among the clubs which ref supports which club.

Yeah, get rid of fucking VAR...its a shambles.

I mean, this could send NF down, whats the point of it all if its contributing to injustices....

Lets celebrate goals again properly.

PGMOL would have been incompetent to assign a ref who is an open Luton fan to this match. If Attwell has declared Luton fandom and they still assigned him then Webb has fucked up massively.
