Wtf are we doing, playing on the other side of the world 3 days after the last match of the season, in a Euros summer no less (and other international matches/tournaments)... Pre-season tours are great for many reason but post-season? It's madness. So much so that, when I heard the first reports about the Newcastle friendly yesterday, I thought "the journo must've got his wires crossed and it's a pre-next-season match".

Actually there’s much of our DNA that we need to change not preserve - that part of our DNA in which it is wholly predictable that we could smash Villa 4-0 away and then get smashed by Fulham 6 days later, or play brilliantly at the Eitihad, beating City 3-2, and then fail to show up 4 days later at Burnley and lose 1-0. There are dozens of other examples of course over many many years under multiple managers.
Yes, I love the adventurous football, but that unprofessional, complacent attitude that regularly seems to follow a particularly good performance has to go.
When results like Fulham are seen as an utter freak, rare as a comet, rather than predictable, then we will know that Ange and Munn have made their mark.

“Our goal is to finish the season as high up the league as possible” You might want to mention that to Ange lol. He’s clearly more interested in if the team is playing well and how we’re progressing. He’s never been worried about league positions…
Also love the ‘sustained success’ line ie finishing top 4 or 5 for CL money every season

The overall goal should be to finish as high as possible ie 1st for everyone. It's Ange's first season so he just wants to see the team take on his ideas and ethos more than just singular results. Shouldn't be that hard to understand?
Also the open top bus celebrations line.. you wouldn't enjoy seeing the women win a trophy just because they did it before the men? That comes across quite sad and petty if I'm honest. The girls, if they win it, will have done it on merit and deserve the recognition for even getting to a semi-final. It's the women's FA Cup, they deserve as many fans to turn up to the stadium for the semi and then Wembley for the final (should they get there).

If Tottenham Hotspur start a bowling team I would want them to do well.
Not being interested in the ladies team is fine, you are not alone.
Using the ladies team success as a way to criticise the club is just sad.

Well the under 21 team if they are lucky. There is a FIFA rule that before tournaments, players get a 3 week break at the end of their normal season. Euros and copa america this summer.
Daniel must be getting some cash to do this.
There are international friendlies at the start of June as countries prep for the euros.
going to Australia is bloody ridiculous.

Spot on. The only recent manager to achieve this over at least a couple of seasons was Poch. Spursy is our club's DNA and it seems impossible to change at times. To do so, you have to challenge the habits and mindset of players who are all too confident and almost cocky despite having achieved very little in their careers to date. Part of the challenge is living in the rarefied life of a top level footballer makes you feel like a winner, even though you don't have to actually win stuff to achieve that.
Good habits take time and we have yet to win five on the trot that is a benchmark of those habits kicking in. And as you said, the eye of the tiger is needed to ensure performances and results like Fulham's become rare.

I don't know if that's PC or not but it's an odd take for me.
They are as much a part of the club as anything and I want any team wearing our badge to do well.
Do you enjoy the youth teams winning, or only the men's first team?

tbf that’s a fair take - I do ‘enjoy’ the youth doing well and I probably also ‘enjoy’ the Women doing well but it’s on a completely different level when it comes to the men’s 1st Team and involves my entire heart & soul

I guess it's also because they seem quite new.
It's fun to watch the youngsters progress and get excited about who may be the next star, so that makes keeping an eye on the youngsters enjoyable for me.
I'll admit that it took a while for me to get into women's football but now that the standard has improved so much, it's a much better watch than it used to be.
I hear what you say about the first team though and it's hard to let too many Spurs teams in to break your heart, which they all will eventually!
