Like I mentioned in the match thread, I don’t think Dragusin played that badly at all. I think what was more evident is that there was zero understanding between him and Udogie on who’s responsibility was who’s, both in terms of areas of the pitch and marking.

Dragusin looked like a player on the wrong side (left instead of right), who was not used to exactly where the inverted full back beside him was meant to be. It will take time. Whereas VDV had the luxury of being able to recover any missteps due to his blistering pace, Dragusin like 99% of the league doesn’t have the pace to bail himself out while learning the system on the job.

Weird that you defend Ndombele to the death, despite him being one of the biggest wasters to ever pull on the shirt, but go in two footed on a young centre back making his first start for the club.
Said this before his transfer to us and so far nothing has changed my opinion about him - he's mediocre defender who completely doesn't suit our style of playing and he will be back playing for teams like Genoa in next 18 months.
This argument "it's his first style for the club" makes sense when player makes debut quickly after joining us not after 3 months of training or when it's obvious the player is really good(Van de Ven who was still very good in his debut, Porro, Kulu, Bentancur etc)

How is defending Ndombele connected with my opinion about Dragusin. And yes, he won't even have 10% of Ndombele's impact at Spurs lol

Well I respect the bold prediction if nothing else. Let's see how it ages.

Can’t ignore that he didn’t check to see where his man was for the first goal and also didn’t attempt to block the shot.

First game so no judgements made at this point but i hope it was nerves.

10% of Ndombele's impact at Spurs is a low bar. So low in fact I'd say its on the ground.

If he doesn't hit that I'd say your opinion on him is correct.

However he had a very solid 45 minutes v Villa last week which was more than we ever saw of your buddy Ndombele, so I'd say you're actually full of shit.

I feel like our expectations are slightly skewed by how seamlessly Van de Ven slotted in to that CB position. He's an exception to the rule, imho and he's probably on of the most talented defenders of his generation. The truth is that most players will need more time, especially at a complex position as CB. Writing Dragusin off after his first proper start is ludicrous.

But sadly par for the course within this fanbase. Some wrote off Kulusevski after 5 minutes. Some wrote off Johnson who has had a brilliant goal contribution first season.

All Dragusin has to do is reach the height of being Spurs' second worst signing of all time, and he'll still have beaten Ndombele's career with us

What impact?! Don't let the fact that he scored a debut goal skew what an absolute disaster signing Ndombele was.

This confused me as well tbh, ‘Ndombeles impact’ ….what impact? We can’t sell him, we’re literally running his contract down so he doesn’t legally work for us anymore.

Some of our fans are embarrassing tbh.

If only he was younger and had a chance to improve...

This is 100% true. Look at Verts as an example; he was far from brilliant at the outset. And looked a bit lost in Poch's first season. But we all know how the rest of the story played out. Ended up being one of our best, most reliable CBs in the past 20 years.

How much of Drag did you see at Genoa to come to the conclusion he’s mediocre? Especially since he’s still so young.

I’m not having a go, just surprised anyone could have such a firm opinion about him since he’s hardly played.

Some of the posts since the Fulham defeat have been laughable. I get that people are unhappy with a really poor result but we don’t need to draw from that generalisations like Ange’s football is not sustainable, or Dragusin is mediocre. I think the frustration has gotten the better of people.

Really demonstrated to me the importance of speed in Ange's system. Hope this is picked up for future defensive recruits

It's a weird modern phenomenon where people don't seem to be able to accept the simplest and most obvious reason for something - ie we had an off day and lost. Or Dragusin found it tough on his debut as hundreds of players have done before him. There has to be a fundamental problem that only they can see.

Really hope he gets to play in the Luton game, all games after that we need VDV though

And Fulham were 100% on it.
