Wouldn't the 25% stake just come from ENICs overall share?

They currently own 86.58% so if they sell they 25% ENIC would end up with 61.58%. I don't imagine that it would have much more effect than that.

The only thing Joe Lewis/Daniel Levys separate shares in ENIC would likely affect is the amount each party would receive from the deal.

This would surely be the case wouldn't it with a minority sale?

Im sure both scenarios are possible. The ownership percentages of THFC by ENIC stay the same. Or one party could reduce their share.

Person 1 wants to buy 25%

They don't care who agrees to sell their shares. DL, JL, or both to meet the 25%

Indeed.

The difficulty in predicting how a sale would be organised if the major shareholders have different objectives is that there will certainly be shareholders agreements in existence between them, yet we have no idea of the detail of the contents.

They will certainly restrict some of each shareholder’s freedoms, and also create protections for each party.

It makes it hard to predict what a sale of a part of the total would look like.

IMHO People need to be really careful what they wish for.

The pool of Investors that can buy us without saddling us with more debt like the Glazers at ManU is extremely small
Less than say about 150 people ...if you are looking for a sugar daddy owner.
In fact if you check out the Forbes list the pool of our most likely new owners would be on there (https://www.forbes.com/billionaires/)

There are probably 3x that amount that could saddle us with debt and make ENIC look like the salvation army
The beauty of where we are now is that the club is rapidly moving up the club rich list ...like a bullet.
It would be mad to snatch defeat from victory cos the grass is always greener.

I honestly think that Chelsea and City could implode, and fairly soon....If the rules and legal charges bite.

Levy has been building the equivalent of a ManU of the future...A club that will continue to chuck out money at an incredible rate which will be turbo charged with success on the pitch.
it has very small relative debt from operations, and cheap long term debt on its stadium. The Wage bill is and will be performance related.
Finally we have a sustainable model of the pitch a great management team on the pitch, and are in my opnion, on the cusp of starting to deliver great football and maybe the odd trophy
why would anyone change that? We have waited this long it may well be coming right in the next 1-3 years.

I think you added 'be careful what you wish for' and 'the grass is always greener' deliberately to see if you could get a nibble :D

Is this chewing the fat or is something on the offing with investment?
Rumours that it's a sale of the club but we've been here before so as always, it's a case of wait and see. At the moment I would suggest there's nothing to get excited about, the grass is green, due care is being taken over what we wish for and 'doing a Leeds' is currently on a SAGA holiday.

I won't get excited until I see an AI generated Sheikh professing his adoration for Spurs which stemmed from the halcyon days of the late 90's.

Been told the club are close to being sold for around 4.5b.

As A&C has mentioned, been here before so nothing to get too excited about but the source is fairly confident. Can't mention who yet but it isn't stateside.

These things come and go from time to time but it's certainly interesting none the less.

Then bring on the ‘x/y/z doesn’t pass my lofty moral qualification test so it’s a no from me’ chat.

That rules out what I heard a few months ago (which I thought was BS) then. I was told an informal group with a former Golden State Warriors co owner were running the numbers on Spurs.

Sorry but as much as Levy has his faults, the thought of being bought out terrifies me. Especially as we've seemingly finally got the right mix of people running things.

I agree. Even accounting for a status quo bias, most investors in Premier League clubs come with with a lot of baggage. I think it’s reasonable to be concerned about it.

Thats come out of nowhere, if it materialises of course. Does feel like this whole situation with Lewis has something to do with it ether directly or indirectly. Ether way if its true surely someone will get whiff of it soon enough. Without knowing who the new potential owners are one can't really be excited or dismayed but at least we wont have a Boehly mk2 situation I guess.

Interesting - would be somewhat surprised if it turns out to actually crystalise mind you. Would feel very out of the blue
