Over the last few years we’ve had an awful record in midweek fixtures. The 3-0 in the NLD and the Bergwijn inspired 3-2 at Leicester (both in 21/22) are the only midweek league wins I can think of since Pochettino was sacked! Going for the first time since November 2022 tonight so I’ll bring my singing voice and hopefully we’ll buck our recent trend of deflating defeats in midweek games.

Hope we don't risk VdV's hammy by starting him tonight and also at lunchtime on Saturday. Need to ease him back carefully. So I'd quite like to see Drago start with Romero either tonight or against Everton. Looking forward to seeing Dragusin get a proper gallop to see what he can do.
Believe I’ve seen on Twitter that Dragusin is the cover player on tonight’s match program, so you can read into that what you will👍

Im not convinced Maddison starts tonight, I can't remember seeing him touch the ball against City, think he'll be eased back in.
That was more to do with City dominating possession, us sitting back due to their pressure and us being unable to find any passes on the rare occasion we did get the ball. I don't think it was necessarily fitness related.

Vicario

Porro Romero VdV Udogie

Skipp Bentancur
Maddison

Kulusevski Richarlison Werner

That's my prediction for tonight.
Would make sense to play Bentancur as the deepest since he doesn't seem fully up to the box to box role yet. With Sarr back in the next one he will play there anyway. Harsh on Hojbjerg though who did well against City but then Skipp did well at Utd.

Think Dragusin makes most sense against Everton who are a typical Dyche team

Counting the hours until my trip. I'll leave my agent provocateur self at home, and I'll enjoy immensely. My first time in the new stadium too.
Any tips on pubs for pre- and post- game drinks? It's been a while. Last time I travelled to watch Spurs it was a NLD at Wembley. The one we won 1-0 with Kane's header.
First time in the new stadium I would say don't go in the surrounding pubs pre-game but head straight to the stadium and take a walk around to soak it all in.

Take a walk through the Spurs Store, stroll along the concourses (decorated with parts of Spurs history over the years). Head to the South Stand, grab a beer in the Beavertown brewery, take a look at the old centre circle (at the back right of south stand bar). If you're on upper levels head to North West upper to catch the live music or drift back down to South Stand to soak up some atmosphere with fans singing.

It's an incredible venue especially for a first visit, enjoy.

Long balls to Toney will be a key tactic for them, so I wouldn’t mind seeing Radu playing if he’s as strong in the air as we’ve heard

Long diagonals over the back of the full backs, especially on Porros side.
Quite a boring team to watch but always seem difficult to play against.

We actually beat Brentford at home midweek in '21

Think this’ll be a tough game, they’ll sit back and try and hit us on the break. Early goal could make it a different story though.

Either way we need to take our chances.

Long balls to Toney do not require someone to be good in the air - it requires someone with pace, and positioning.

Everton, on the other hand, like to play balls in the air to DCL - where it would make sense to start Dragusin.
