It also sets a precedence where players and agents start to target being released on a free.
For them it's double payment as they'll get money from new club as well.

You can easily avoid that with a terms of severance contract.

If you are going to bash Levy - and lord knows there are times he deserves it - you have to say, getting two key players in, this early in January, only happens if Levy signs off on it.

Whether this is simply his decision to stand back from football decisions, or a conscious effort by him to support Ange - does not really matter. Either decision is a welcome change to how we have operated in the past.

Even if neither Werner nor Dragusin work out as we hoped - Spurs have pushed the boat out a bit when it could make the difference.

Agree. Levy has certainly made his share of fuck ups in the past and got involved in footballing decisions that he shouldn't have.

It appeared the last transfer deal instigated by him was Spence who looks like failing and losing us money. Hopefully this is it for us and he'll now focus on putting the right buying committee in place rather than playing scout himself.

The last 3 seasons have been really good for us in the transfer market. We've brought in Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski, Romero, Bissouma, Udogie, Porro, Richarlison, Maddison, Johnson, Vicario, VDV, Werner and soon Dragusin should be confirmed.

That's 14 1st team squad players with question marks over only 1 or 2.

No other Prem side has done any real deals so far this month. We've as good as finalised deals for 2 players in needed areas.

This is an excellent step in the right direction.

Over the past two evenings there were some ready to lay the boot (and more) in to Levy. Even if it wasn't even down to him at all, he'll get the blame. Unfortunately these same folk won't credit him when things like this come off, or his hiring of Munn, Lange, Paratici are all working well together. They'll lie in wait for the next transfer that appears to be going tits up.

I know it's a bit condescending to say, but there are still a lot of fans that don't appear to get how transfers work.

When it looked like the Dragusin deal might have fallen through, there were posts about Levy not pulling the trigger quickly enough. Some still think tying up a deal requires little more than paying the asking price.

No doubt Levy has made many mistakes in the past, but the criticism of this deal were just incorrect.

I think maybe he's doing what he should have been doing a decade ago. He's assembled a transfer committee of football men and he's focusing on his strengths, making money.
Can't disagree, TBH I expected us to make zero signings this window, but getting our first choice CB with a massive rival bid and Werner is pretty good going. Now we can def mount a top 4 challenge, maybe a bit more

To me it seems like anything negative that pertains to Spurs is down to Levy, even stuff like that. Bayern could have come in at any point, and he has a mouthy agent. Some forget we are not the only party involved in deals. And another club can come into negotiate at ANY point up until it's signed and done.

Im actually very happy already about this transfer window. Everything else happening now, is just a massive bonus.

Im no fan of Levy at all, but when he does something right, he should be acknowledged for that..In the same way he deserve a whopping every time he f*cks up!

We’ve all waited 20+ years for this day.

Just needed to be patient 🤣

Totally agree with the sentiment here.

1) Levy and team deserve credit
2) We could not have wished for a better start to the window. Two more super smart, great value signings. If it stopped here, I'd be chuffed to bits. Anything else is a bonus.

Let's remember that, as any remaining deal - likely a midfielder, if anyone - is likely to go down to the deadline day. And that's understandable, as we'll likely be haggling on outgoings as well as incomings, so there are practical hurdles in both directions.

8.5/10 so far lads.
- PEH out
- a PEH replacement in
- maybe Kelly as well

....and it's genuinely a perfect window (on the face of it)
