Many a truth told in jest. I have this suspicion that Ange won‘t trust Bissouma as much as he did at one time. Many will disagree but I think he has some bridges to build before being first choice in a fully fit squad.
Great point. Well put... leadership was required on the field. He couldn't help himself

I agree that having a more clinical striker would be superb and eventually we need to look at long term succession planning for Son.

But right now it’s not like we’re struggling to score. We’re the fourth highest scorers in the league (42), only Man C (45) and A Villa and Liverpool (both 43) have scored more than us.

This season Son (12), Richarlison (7), Kulusevski (5) should be finishing with double figures or close to it. Maddison when he returns should be aiming for double figures or close to it (3 so far). Werner if he can contribute 5 goals (the equivalent of double digits across a season) could make a big difference in this context.

Last season the only player other than Kane to score double figures was Son (14 in all comps). Kane, arguably the most clinical striker in the world, scored 30 league goals last season but we are well on the way to replacing those goals. Werner could help with that, even if he’s not as clinical as ideally we would like.
we are the top scorers in the league from open play
and still ange says our biggest improvements will come from the front 3, and how we must / can be more clinical
gotta love big ange

and then we sign werner (who is reportedly 1/6 options to provide additional attacking avenue)
the future is bright, the future is lilywhite

Really excited for what this can do to our pressing game. At the start of the season we saw Sonny and Maddison coming off on 60 to get rest (it’s one reason I feel sorry for Ange with the injuries, as he was really trying to not run players down) but we haven’t been able to recently.

It’ll be amazing if we can play a really strong XI, have them run their heart out for 60, then switch out for adequate replacements. For example, for the first 60:

Vic, Porro, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Bentancur, Sarr, Maddison, Johnson, Son, Kulu

Final 30 you can bring on Werner, Richi, Solomon, Lo Celso, Bissouma, Hoj, Skipp, Emerson, Davies, Dragusin etc to keep that pressing going without a significant drop in quality.

If we get these deals done, it’s amazing how quickly we have gone from being unhappy with almost every position last summer to having a really quite complete squad - largely because Ange is getting a tune out of players.
Such a good post spot on mate

Tarnished his Chelsea legacy according to that welly boot Rory Jennings..
He also said ‘he doesn’t even miss chances, he misses sitter after sitter’. He basically laid into him. Some legacy…..

Actually this is great because now he has Jenning’s seal of disapproval, I genuinely think he’ll be a big success for us.

New video, first 10 seconds of the preview on YT without me clicking that welly boots video....

"Timo Iscariot, what a slippery little traitor that man is."

Werner has a better goals to minutes ratio than all of our forwards this season 😂

Do you know what concerns Chelsea fans more than anything else about this? Another Salah/De Bruyne moment. Not that I'm saying Werner is close to either of those, I mean they are concerned Ange gets the best out of him and he becomes much more of a player than the one they had which again makes the club look stupid.

If Chelsea fans were worried about looking stupid, then they wouldn't have become Chelsea fans.

That’s why Werner on loan is probably worth a go imo. We don’t even need him to come in and score the equivalent of 20 goals a season, even if he can come in and score the equivalent of 10 that would be huge as long as we continue to spread goals across the team.
The equivalent of 10?

Or….like… 10? 😉

I wake up after a heavy night, and we’re basically signing Werner?! Where did this come from?! I don’t know much about him, apart from us being linked before his Chelsea move, and that he didn’t do very well there. Oh, and Andy Jacobs doesn’t have a nice thing to say about him.

Fair play if so. The club is stupid.

Name me these clinical PL strikers though even at that price.

Haaland & Kane. Net contribution from someone like Toney or Watkins is arguably less. Beyond that you are looking at the likes of Son and Salah who are wide forward freaks really.
Yeh great point. There’s literally no-one out there that isn’t a gamble. I’m not convinced Toney is clinical and that’s £100m to get him in Jan.

You’re not going to be able to replace Kane with the quality of forward’s available.

It’s quite sensible to look at other ways of scoring goals and if that’s quick pressing forwards which suit the current managers playing style that makes perfect sense.

I genuinely have no concerns about this signing. Watch his reel before he signed for Chelsea, he knows where the net is! A kick of confidence from Ange could seriously reboot his form. He’s also only 27, so plenty of miles left in the tank.

A Ryanair flight has just left Leipzig for Stanstead.

I presume the club would fork out the premium for an extra leg room seat.
