Feels like deadline day move to Spain all over it. He’s not got the body for the premier league.

He doesn’t make the squad when Solomon’s back.

I love my duracell bunny but he just runs into too many blind alleys and isn't clinical enough. I'd love him to come good but kind of expect him to go in January.
I can understand why some would want to cut our losses now. I personally still feel that he needs more game time before we write him off completely. You can tell he still trying too hard and overthinking. It would be nice to see what he can do when he’s more comfortable and calm. He’s almost too desperate to prove himself that it’s effecting his performance quite significantly.

That being said I don’t see him actually being given much more game time and I think you could be right re him being moved on in Jan. One thing is for sure tho if he goes then another WF is a must. Tbh I think we need one even if he stays but if he goes, even if it’s just a loan, then it’s not even an option, we will have to bring in another wide player.

Bit of strange to rate, did a lot wrong as you point out, but thought his energy rubbed to the rest of team making team perform better when he came on.
Possibly, yeah. But if all you're doing is bringing energy, maybe it's not a place for you.

In previous games there were glimpses. Today. It really stood out how poor he was with the ball.

As I said not giving up on him completely, but it was noticeable how much he's lacking right now.

Still feel there’s a player in there, but he’s really not kicking on. Some players - especially slight technical ones - take a while to bed in. And although he’s been here a while loans/manager changes/injuries have robbed him of a good run at the team.

But honestly I’m really worried that if he can’t make an impact now with a manager of Ange’s style and with how threadbare the squad is, that he might never make it. Deki’s suspension and Son going to the Asian Cup feels quite last chance saloon, let’s hope he takes it.

Hard to kick on when youre not playing regularly

Exactly what I said. There has been lots of mitigating factors as to why he’s not played regularly with us yet, but he has a real chance over this next few weeks to stake his claim finally. But if he plays like he did tonight in this period I think he’s off by January 31 sadly.

Hard to play regularly when you're giving the ball away and keep running down blind alleys.

I don't know what the solution is tbf, but it's obviously not working out for anyone right now.

I wasn’t impressed as a left winger. Technically he is pretty decent but he does not have any physical attributes to beat a man.

He has the ability to make inroads with 1-2s but as he is all left foot it is easy to show him outside on the left where he will not be able to beat you.

That makes him pretty ineffective as an attacking outlet unless the rest of the team is working really well.

I don’t know if there is another role he would do better in but I think one decent offer from Spain would suit all parties

See no benefit to bringing him on instead of donley or Yago. They can't offer much less than he does. Send him back to Spain on a loan with obligation (hard to see a Spanish side having cash in Jan) and be done with it.
Give the minutes he has been getting to someone who might have a future at the club.

Someone on here said Johnson is the ultimate ‘flatters to deceive’ player. I disagree. It’s this guy. He often looks sharp and has a low centre of gravity which makes him look skilful, but he contributes nothing. His stats are horrendous for an attacking player. 2 goals and 4 assists in 76 appearances over three seasons. He’s massively regressed too - in the season before we signed him (when he was only 19/20) he had 7 goal contributions in 29 appearances.

That was me. Forgot about Gill, looks like we have two of them!

I’m just a bit shocked that he’s made 76 appearances! Even if most are from the bench.

I don't think they are for us are they?

He had poor youth coaching. Never should be an outside left winger. Players with his skillset and physicality should have been trained to play 10 or as a wide playmaker off the right.

Honestly this guy sucks and the people still hopeful he will come good have that hope out of the most incredible will, determination and stubbornness because he’s so clearly terrible. Being able to jink about a bit because you’re the weight of a bag of skips does not make you technically good. He’s technically average. He doesn’t pass or strike the ball well, his first touch is nothing more than average. He does nothing more than a few jinky runs per match and simple sideways passes. If he’s asked to do anything out of the ordinary that would require you to have actual talent he fails miserably. As you can probably tell I don’t think I’ve rated a young expensive signing lower than I do this guy for quite a while.

On the plus side though, he could probably get work as part of a Monkees tribute act.
