Really like him as a footballer and would love to see him and Maddison playing in front of Bentancur. Next season we are likely back in Europe and will need a stronger squad with midfield upgrades on Skipp and PEH, extending GLC contract makes a lot of sense.

His style of play, the extra beat of time he seems to have receiving the ball and the potential to then go past the first presser without using pace, are actually really similar to Alex Scott at Bournemouth. So I can see why it was unjustifiable to spend £25m on Scott last summer if Lo Celso was going to be staying.

I watched Scott play today. He was really good. I'd rather we waited and signed him in the summer instead of Conor Gallagher (who I actually think would be a good signing.)

It could come down to him as well. I don’t think when all our midfielders are fit he’s in the starting 11 but he’s definitely good enough to start for a lot of teams. Will he be happy being a squad player for us?

Would be surprised if they sell him just 1 year after buying him though.

One of Gio's attributes, imo, is the way he places his passes so that the player is running onto it. It may seem a small thing, but passing directly to feet, or even behind the receiving player is a real momentum killer. He brings a whole lot more flow to the way we play.

How many chances this guy going to get to prove himself. 4 managers he's had at Spurs and imo seen nothing we couldn't improve on in the market.

Roy Keane once said how maddening some players are that mangers have to rely on to keep them in a job, his words are very apt for Lo Celso I think - "he loves a niggle, and you can't hang your hat on him".

Love this guy, needs to start.
He should have started. He clearly was struggling to adapt to the pace of the game for the first 5 or so mins when he came on m. Gave away a bad pen as well as miss controlling the ball leading to a turn over, although he did win it straight back, but after that he was very good going forward again.

Agree, came on faaaaar too late and him and Bryan both came in at the worst moment possible (thats on Ange). And for all the talk of him not giving a shit, it seems to me that he actually really does.

30 mins and 3-0 down? He comes on, the score is 2-1 to us for the final 30mins and could easily be 4-1 to us, not because GLC was outstanding, but because he kept the ball moving, and was moving. The midfield became more dynamic. He was the only midfielder trying to connect play. All the rest were just awful with the ball.

Doing that to Pedro after he'd already been booked (for a ridiculous tackle, never going to end well from behind in the box like that) needs to be discussed. We're already down to bare bones and he went out of his way. The squad is fantastic but lacks discipline at the moment.

I have no idea what he was trying to achieve, but talking in someone's ear, such that no-one else could hear / prove what he said, is pretty low risk.

Problem is too many people only see the errors and not the impact on the part of the pitch was responsible for
Fair, but when you come on the pitch at 0-3 to make a difference, and you give away the dumbest penalty anyone has ever seen.. Not such a strange thing to focus on.

Edit: instead of just downvoting a post, maybe add something to the discussion? It’s not like I’m being needlessly negative - I’m making a very fair point.
