Said Benrahma

I know they're kinda meaningless but this guy honestly has one of the most impressive highlights I've ever seen. Serious creative chops, hold up play, can play both on the outside and inside, has goals in him. If Coco is indeed on his way out, I guess we could do worse.
Think this is the most important thing when people say 'he is another left sided attacker' he isn't. His movement and the ability to carry the football is something that is sorely lacking in this team, and as you say, goals in him, something we could do with more from other players not named Kane an Son.

No idea if we're close on this transfer, but I'd like to see him in a Spurs shirt and see what he could offer at the top level. At times last season for Brentford, him, Watkins and Mbuemo were unplayable at times and he was at the heart of of it quite often.

I wonder if someone heard we were talking to Brentford, put 2+2 together and decided we were in for Watkins. But it was actually Benrahma all along. If his price has come down to a reasonable level, he'd be brilliant. He's one of those players who'll only get better from the being given the space he'll get playing alongside Son/Kane/Stevie/Lucas etc.

This is the main rationale in my mind as to why we may be inquiring now. We've had a few notes regarding listening to offers for Lamela and as much as i like him, he is a player we can upgrade or at least swap for a player who can ultimately play more minutes.

We'll see, seems like this is one of those deals which may happen but needs a lot to fall into place really.

Surely we'd need to be on the cusp of selling someone for this to be a possibility? Lamela being the obvious shout.

Usually people go to youtube first when they know absolutely nothing about a player, not Wikipedia.
Hmmm, joke went awol. If we can’t discuss if the player is closest to 25 or 26 and if he is not the SC approved height, there is no need for YouTube...

Guy's got more tricks than Derren Brown. I'd take him for the entertainment factor alone, although a diminutive dribbling trickster hardly strikes me as a Mourinho player. Also his position is surely lower priority than ST, LB and maybe CB and I'm not sure how he'd fit into the team, unless as an alternative to Dele through the middle. Bit of a weird one.

As others have said, presumably we'd need to sell someone similar to buy, yet there hasn't been any interest in, say, Lamela that I'm aware of.

I watched Brentford in the playoff semi-final legs against my hometown of Swansea and Benrahma was unplayable at times, went through the defense like it wasn't there. He hit the woodwork a couple of times in the second leg with vicious long range shots and linked the play up really well.

I was also really impressed with Watkins as a centre forward, and the two of them were noticeably better than the rest of the players on the pitch (Mbeumo, the third of the trio was less impressive). At times the movement of the Brentford attack was terrifying. Without the harsh sending off in the first leg of the Brentford full back it would have been much less close. Of the two I think Watkins fits our squad needs more, but Benrahma has that magic out of nothing that we don't really possess, Mahrez is a really good comparison. If we can work out a way to get both, I'd be all for it.

Feckin Knobber. Feel like I've been on the waltzers.

Just watched a YouTube reel on him. So many twists and turns, I got up and fell into the coffee table.

Last bit might be bullshit.

Lamela leaving
Play Son as a back up striker you weaken the team in two ways.Firstly you weaken the striker position as Son is not as good as Kane, esp as the focal point of the attack.Secondly,by moving Son, you are weakening the wing/wide attacking midfield position as we have nobody quite as good as Son to play there.

Shifts the ball well, and certainly gets on the front foot.

Weirdly, he reminds me a little of Zaha. Fronting his man up and gone with a trick or quick shift before the opponent gets a look in.

I think we need competition in those roles, even if it's not an immediate concern.

Son, Bergwijn, Lucas will alternate in those front roles and I do think they need a bit more competition. Sonny, for all his brilliance, can have a spell where he doesn't do a lot. Lucas can frustrate and isn't as intelligent off the ball. Bergwijn is a little different as he can play as a more creative type too.

Alli, Lamela etc will play deeper and Sess and Clarke may go out on loan.

So any injuries to that front line and we start to have to overuse players.

We've got sooo many games this year and Jose will want to compete and have some freshness on all fronts, if the club can bring in Benrahama and a CF, I'm not going to worry about how to fit them all in. They'll find a way.

Very good player.

Would like him and Watkins to join us.

would freshen up our squad significantly with the additions we already have. Plus they are both players trying to prove a point That they are good enough at this level.... think that motivation and their reported characters are a big ‘tick’ from me as to why they should be signed (for the right price).

A benefit of signing both other than the fact they know each other is if they play together eg in Euorpa then they’ll already having a fluid working relationship. Whereas if you look at Chelsea, they’ve signed some quality players but they’re potentially going to have a brand new front 4 who have never played together before... it’s going to take them months if not longer to gel.

I really like him but I don't think he is as good as Mahrez. I am not sure how good he can or would be for us to be honest

Don't think anyone is saying he is AS good as Mahrez but he has a lot of potential and has good experience in the English game, fairly low risk.

Do people still consider Lamela a winger? He's clearly best playing between the lines behind the striker. I don't see this having any impact on him. If anything I would be concerned for Sess. He clearly isn't ready to play fullback and he's been playing on the wing in pre-season. If we sign another wide attacker then he's not likely to play much. A loan might be best for him to make way.
