West Ham fans thought he was shit. How is he going to be any better for us?
They signed him to be first choice. We’re signing him for squad management purposes and to compete for the number 2 spot. Won’t be relied upon anywhere near as much.

I'd rather he didn't get called upon for a regular run of games this season but this move makes a lot of sense. He has plenty to prove and I think he'll fit in with the rest of the lads really well.

If we end up signing Højbjerg, Hart and Wilson this summer then that's the least Spurs-like transfer window that I can remember. Good, solid, Premier League experienced players who can do a job when needed. If we keep making signings like that, as well as a couple of "wildcards", then I might be more confident about our future under Jose.

Very sensible signing for the squad. Not going to start week 1, but he’s experienced, seems a positive influence (dare I say, a leader), and home grown. When you want to compete in every competition you’re in, these are the kinds of signings that will make the difference - particularly in the early rounds when the fixture congestion is at its worst.

Cue Hugo and Gazza injuries for our first few games...

I do understand the thinking re the home quota thing, but as I’ve always really disliked Joe Hart, coupled with the fact he’s been turd for the last few years it’s a no from me.

Gazza is 28! He's never been a first choice keeper in his career. What promise do you genuinely think he has? I've heard of late-bloomers but that just takes the p!ss.

Hart is a massive improvement on Gazza!
He really isnt. In fact, he's not even close to one. We could definitely improve on Gazzaniga. But Hart would be a massive downgrade. He is very poor now.

Adding some depth to the squad for training and emergency with a keeper who doesn't impact the foreign born quota seems sensible. City did the same recently. With 75 England caps its not like we are talking about a 4th tier pie eating 50 year old. Has his confidence gone and therefore his ability at the top level? Sure. Could he do a job in the league cup next month while Gazza takes the Europa league and Hugo the prem. Makes the 9 games in 23 days more realistic.

I am never sure why a GK cannot play every day of the week. It is not exactly physically taxing.

How dare you, He was first choice for half a season for Gillingham!!

28 is still young for a goalkeeper. Hes got up to 10 years ahead of him.

I personally like this signing, has a lot to prove and yes the last few years haven't been great but West Ham are crap so that didn't help him. Burnley also similar and his time abroad was always going to be difficult as I am assuming there was a language barrier and communication is hugely important in football, especially for the goalkeeper.

West Ham fans think their whole team is shit. Their board is shit. Their "rented" stadium is shit and their own fans are shit.

Therefore, their opinion is shit (y)

Can be mentally though as each player still has a routine and training/stretching plan to make sure they are in peak condition for each game and keepers also do more specific planning for the opponents to understand key set ups for free kicks, corners, pens etc. Also when Hugo is in his mid thirties the muscles become more sensitive to tears etc.
