Wow! Koulibaly/Alderweireld would be some partnership. While both are right footed, Toby is comfortable on the left. I actually believe it is plausible because of the whole Ancelotti situation. My only concern is completely sentimental. Jose seems to rate Foyth and I don’t see how Jan stays if we have Sanchez/Foyth as primary backups. I truly hope we extend him for the leadership and locker room presence I assume he brings.

Clubs higher up the food chain than us would struggle to prise Madrid first teamer's away so Varane to us is an absolute non starter. Even the players who are not first team regulars for them seem to be reluctant to move from there.
Not saying it'll happen cause I doubt it very much but Jose would certainly be a pull for him. He's the man who brought him to Madrid and trusted him.

It's nice getting linked with these sort of names all of a sudden.

I'm sure getting Mourinho in has had a big impact on which players wanna come to Spurs.
He is competing with Pep in regards for top manager of the decade. Players want to play for him. Levy has done so well to get him here.

Not too sure about Koulibaly, I've only seen him a couple of times, both against English opponents (Gooners and Pool) and he seemed to struggle against a hard press he was particularly bad against the gooners but a little better against Pool, I hadn't realized he was 29, I don't think he would hit the ground running in the PL.

He absolutely bullied Salah and played well against Liverpool. He would be the best CB that we could buy imo. He is up there with VVD.

So to summarise, it is not definitely on but it is no longer definitely off. :) well it's moving in the right direction I guess.
I have to say today's postings have driven me to bring out my optimistic hat again.
No to summarise, he was 100% adamant he wasn't leaving RM. That's no longer the case.

Doesn't mean he's leaving mind.

Yup, a very aggressive front foot defender. Ruben Dias is similar in that respect. Strong, physical, mobile type of defenders who'll look to win the ball further up. Both pretty decent on the ball to.

The position I worry least about buying an older player is CB, they generally keep up their quality into their mid-thirties. Also, buying young CBs is risky and they take longer to develop. Just look at Foyth and occasionally Sanchez.

Koulibaly is a wonderful player and undoubtedly worth the money. Still think we would pissing into the wind a bit if we buy a top notch CB without sorting out fullback and defensive midfield, our CB pairing hasn't been a main problem this year though it could be improved.

I’m sure I read Napoli’s chairman said last summer that Koulibaly would cost far more than what Maguire was sold for.

I know he is’nt what we need, but a big part of me would still love it if we could bring Bale home.

The thought of him linking up with Kane and Son is mouthwatering

Accurate, but a lot has potentially changed. Napoli are now midtable rather than chasing Juve for the title as they have the last 4 seasons and Koulibaly had a bit of a falling out with the chairman as addressed above.

De Laurentiis is bit of a crazy guy. With Koulibaly 6 months or so from his 29th birthday, he may be tempted to cash in before he hits 30 at a fair price or he may genuinely hold out for a Maguire like fee. I maybe be wrong but struggling to see a club cough up £80m for a defender closing in on 30.

Yeah and Aulas said Ndombele will be sold for more than Pogba. Now it looks like Napoli will be completely rebuild.
