We're just keeping it quiet until the ink is dry. Levy knows he us after selling our talisman so will surely replace with Mbappe. So those Mbappe links we had earlier in the window were not completely unfounded

I'm all for us signing regensWe're just keeping it quiet until the ink is dry. Levy knows he us after selling our talisman so will surely replace with Mbappe.
In an ideal world we would be signing both Orban and Nuamah and loan them straight out to a better league to get them playing week in week out. Reality is, considering our needs, that’s never going to happen and as it is it will be a BIG jump for both players. As good as they look, and they do look good, the jump in level will be massive for them, especially for Nuamah, and they both could well struggle at first. No matter how good they look even a move to Ligue 1 say would be a big step up let alone the PL.I doubt Ajax would be interested in buying him at £22 million. The PL taxis crazy and one the club doesn’t feel ready for. Can anyone really see us spending that on him or even Orban at that level out of the Belgian or Danish leagues? It just feels so out of character for us to do especially when that money could be put towards a first team player. We don’t do risky transfers anymore and I can’t blame the club that much when we have so many players we want to move on because of past mistakes. I’d be surprised if we sign both players, even one of him or Orban would be fairly out of the norm for us.
I think a perfectly good compromise (and I know I'm talking 'ideal world') could be:In an ideal world we would be signing both Orban and Nuamah and loan them straight out to a better league to get them playing week in week out.
Yup. Totally agree. If he's a direct replacement for Kudus, you would question why we wouldn't just go for Kudus, but seemingly we've passed on himIf we want to get him, we'd need to move quickly.
I'd expect Ajax will be targeting him as a kudus replacement.
Mate… your posts are always helpful & informative; and well written. Of course there is a chance they come in and just hit the ground running but the reality is they’re more likely to come in and have minimal impact on our upcoming season. This doesn’t mean I don’t want them, both look fantastic, but there is always a risk with this sort move and the players will likely need to time to adjust and develop. Expecting them to just slot straight in and immediately start contributing is extremely optimistic and somewhat unrealistic imo. Maybe they do, you never know, but that pressure should not be put on them.
Really these sort of moves should be in the Sarr/Udogie category and we should be looking to bring in more established players alongside them. Buying Sarr, Udogie and Gil was the most positive moves I’ve seen this club make in a long while. It’s just unfortunate we handled Gil so poorly by letting him rot on the bench for two half seasons in a row instead of just loaning him out for 2 full seasons.
I posted this in the Kudus thread Monday
Steady on here, need to be careful or we'll be lucky to be able to field a 5 a side team come the ACN.Securing him and Orban would make me very happy and very excited about our future.
This is what quality scouting looks like!
It’s certainly the profile of player we should be looking at 100%. It’s crazy why we haven’t been doing this before.I think a perfectly good compromise (and I know I'm talking 'ideal world') could be:
- bring them both in
- assess
- they could get some (albeit limited) game time in certain situations: injury crisis, low pressure games already won, game needs some pace and enthusiasm
- after an initial 6 month assessment (where we would also be looking at the squad as a whole) we consider whether we (1) loan them out; or (2) keep for the squad
That kind of approach could be great, assuming they had genuine long term potential. Hard to judge IMO.
This is the profile of player we should be looking at though - quick, young, starting to make a name for themselves, high ceiling.
So at least the direction we're pointing in makes sense
Ajax have been targeting for months fyi. Already talked to his camp a few times supposedly. It was his most likely destination pre window opening. Pretty good guess that’s why they are happy for Kudu to go. No idea what happens now tho as bigger clubs are interested. If we want to get him, we'd need to move quickly.

Spurs bigger than Ajax? Currently?Ajax have been targeting for months fyi. Already talked to his camp a few times supposedly. It was his most likely destination pre window opening. Wrong, he actually is not very good on Football Manager 23. I am sure he will be a big time wonder kid in 24 though.Am I the only person who's watched all these videos and feels nothing? He looks like a fairly decent Norwegian league player but I don't see anything that suggests he'll make it against the full backs in this league.
So many hard ons in this thread and I can't help but thing it's because you've all signed him on Champ Man or whatever it's called nowadays.
Fair enough then, shows how much I know.Wrong, he actually is not very good on Football Manager 23. I am sure he will be a big time wonder kid in 24 though.
If you are a player looking to move of course we are. As are the majority of the premier league purely because of the financial numbers.Spurs bigger than Ajax? Currently?
Currently Ajax last season sacked their manager midway through the season and were a complete mess. Their new manager was the youth team coach and isn’t completely convincing and they have sold a number of their best players. Last season was considered one of their worst seasons in a while and most fans are really disappointed with the current state of the club. The fact that Kudu, one of their best young talents, would rather play for West Ham then stay at Ajax will tell you something about where they are and where we are in the pecking order.Spurs bigger than Ajax? Currently?
Money talks.Spurs bigger than Ajax? Currently?
I was talking from a playing the game and winning things perspective, especially as younger player being developed. I'd say Ajax are way ahead of us.If you are a player looking to move of course we are. As are the majority of the premier league purely because of the financial numbers.
