He probably has to sign off spend.

I'm assuming he has to be involved, because fabio is gone and Scott Munn hasn't started yet.
Levy still has to sign off, he’s part owner of the club. He'll be involved either ahead of time with a budget and let the team go to work. Or over and above that to evaluate if more spend is needed.

It’s been said by many ITK and journos that although CFG are faffing with his gardening leave, Munn and Paratici are still contracting freelance for us at the mo. Munn will start officially soon.

We've played in a defensive formation and still couldn't defend. We basically had 7 defensive players and 3 attackers. We're now going to 5 defensive players and 5 attackers and you think the defense will improve?
Yes because they won’t have to do as much defending. We basically defended for 75 out of 90 minutes every game against the better sides. that’s a lot more chances for a fuck up to occur than if your defending for between 40 and 55 minutes say in a possesion based attacking system.

£30m is good, stop trying to get him for less. Fucking less than what Sanchez was 6 years ago and half the cost of Ndombele.

Yeah if he's the player we want and it really is down to us trying to save a few quid then I don't get it and we're being idiots.

Feels like there might be something else going on but fuck knows what that could be.

To be fair to the club, there were likely very similar comments in the Kulu and Maddison thread. It's business.

Again where are you getting it from we are trying to reduce the fee we verbally agreed? Yesterday you said it was from what I had posted, and I told you that it was about the structure of the deal.

Could you point me to where you've heard/read this?

Restructuring a deal can involve a reduction in the total if the seller wants more upfront. The finance guys will fire up their spreadsheets, do the NPV calculations and suggest shaving a percentage off the total.

The same Liverpool that going by reports have pulled out of the race for him?
I’m convinced we still sign VDV and all this is posturing and negotiations.
Me too. I also think it's slightly telling that no one else seems to be in for him.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be pleased if we get him.

And that is still possible. From my pov it very much looks like history repeating itself, because I've seen how this scenario we are currently in has played out before.

Literally just above my post. Sorry but not everything is about what you say.

Well that’s pissed on my cornflakes

I’d be astounded if Levy/the board don’t think the CB situation is as precarious as everyone else sees it.
That’s why I think we’ll pull this through because it’s imperative we sign new CB’s.

Well at least we're not dicking around in a position we are in absolute desperate need for reinforcements. That's something at least.

I know that. That's why I asked where you'd heard or seen it because initially you had used my name as your source of information and you had got that wrong.

Could be the powers that be feel that van de Ven isn’t a perfect fit after all. And that we should go for a proven winner, with tons of energy. Enter:

Viggo Venn.

Tall, runs and jumps a lot, and seems like a good guy to have in the changing room. Would slot in perfectly with the rest of the defence? 🤡

Fits well with Enic/Danny Coys theme tune of screwing us over - again (“One more time”).

Not directly asking you for the answer to this query, but why would our negotiation team/Levy believe that such a strategy with such an (apparent) low success rate is worth repeating or continuing for such a key player/position??

I just don't get it.

Maybe I'm not intelligent enough to understand this modus operandi.
