This. Not massively impressed the view bits I’ve seen. They are possibly looking at other options.

But the fact we’ve very publicly courted new CBs contradicts that. If as you say, the reason Levy hasn’t completed on VDV is because “Ange wants to give everyone a chance”, why was Levy negotiating for new CBs in the first place. We’ve had corroboration from 3 of our most trusted itks that the deal for VDV was completed last week. Surely that indicates that Ange has already concluded (what every supporter and his dog knows) that we do indeed require new personnel in the centre of a flat-back 4 high-line defence, otherwise he wouldn’t have sanctioned that much publicised search/negotiation for new CBs; or at least looked to keep it under wraps. Isn’t it more conceivable that, as per our most respected ITKs, a deal for VDV was finalised, but then Levy has tried to “renegotiate terms in our favour”. (And who knows, perhaps he’ll do just that and people will lord him for doing so.) But given the timeline of events, and Levy’s “previous” for trying to extract the maximum value from a deal, isn’t that more credible than “Ange wants to give Dier a change to to see if he can operate in a system for which he’s woefully unsuited”?

You know so much about Ange and what he thinks or likes are you sure you were not on the committee who chosen him. None of the ITK finger pointed at individuals or the reason for the delay yet we all blaming and speculating, yes the ITK said so they were wrong before and they will be wrong in future nothing is guaranteed in football. Let’s stop the melt down and wait and see.

needed always BOTH ways, both in terms of getting overly excited and expectant a deal will be done and also about getting too disappointed if one doesn’t come in.

I think we will be just fine in the end come start of season and certainly come end of transfer window.

Ange will need to look at a lot of the players so as he’s said it will take some time but we will get there. It feels different under Ange, Vicario, Maddison and Solomon was a fantastic start to the window, we will sign at least 1, likely 2 CB’s I’m almost certain of that, let’s see how it plays out

Always said I wouldn't be surprised if any incomings are on hold until we see some outgoings. Whether that leads to other clubs coming in for our targets, who knows. So far:
Winks out - Maddison in
Moura out - Solomon in
Lloris staying back suggests he is likely to have something lined up soon so that will be him out - Vicario in

Also made Kulusevski permanent in that period so wouldn't be surprised if Levy is now looking to trim numbers before sanctioning any more signings especially at CB, where we our so stacked. One thing you notice with us in the past is that we often get a flurry of activity where when we have a player or two leave, we quickly see someone come in so wouldn't be surprised if a deal(s) are lined up but we've parked it as exits are being lined up. Again, whether that leaves us open to being gazumped, who knows.

Given this deal is supposedly quite advanced shouldn’t be long left to find out solid information either way surely.

I think we’ll sign 1 CB within the next week and the rest of our business when we’re back.
