23 years old, high work rate, scored 8 goals from CM in a poor Palace side, and their fans absolutely loved him and when the rumours he may have joined them permanently they could not believe it. He was absolutely outstanding for them.

I'll trust Big Ange and if we managed to get £30m for PEH and then spent that on Gallagher we would be in a better position in my opinion.

I’m convinced CG has already come out and said he’d be staying at Chelsea this season coming. I don’t see this one happening.

Yeah regardless of whether he's a good fit or not I would be very surprised if ended up here.

Chelsea's midfield options are already threadbare now that they've lost Kante, Kovacic and Mount. According to Transfermarkt this is their entire midfield:

Two (talented) 19 year olds + Enzo and Gallagher. Not sure they can afford to get rid of him even if they make some signings - they need bodies and he's homegrown to boot.

Then you add in the size of the fee, the Spurs/Chelsea rivalry and whether Poch even wants to sell him or he wants to leave. Far too many potential barriers IMO.

They'll be bringing in Caicedo mind.

It would be a big step for any Spurs/Chelsea player to switch sides. If Connor Gallagher joined us, he would be detested and abused by Chelsea fans for the rest of his career. Likewise if any of ours joined them.

Relationship at board level may be better with Abramovich gone, but the level of vitriol between both fan bases is probably as high as it has ever been.
I am not sure this is true…..Gallas? Poyet?, Cudicing? Suggest not. Chelsea in recent history haven’t really taken us as seriously as we did them. They hate us, but losing players that they deem not fit with them doe not bother them as much as us almost selling Modric to them….. West ham for us is similar…. Defoe, Carrick to SPurs and they were hated…..spurs players to them and we couldn’t care less…. I feel Gallagher wouldn’t be too concerned with this…and I doubt the backlash for him would be that high. Definitely not Campbell life damaging for decades.

I could Be wrong, and Chelsea fans highly rate Gallagher….but I doubt this would be a major decision factor…. Also I don’t think Chelsea have any issue to do business with us now the Russian has left. We wont want to sell to them. they will be ok selling Gallagher to us if the fee if what they are ok with… (you have said this regarding Abramovich).. My onions, might be wrong 😊

one thing I didn’t consider is how much of a Chelsea fan Gallagher is, if he is then its more likely he would care personally about the switch….

Not really sure why we need both Maddison and Gallagher, but fuck it, it’s much better than when we were trying to sign a million wing backs.

And I dont think Chelsea can be dickheads about who they sell too, they need players off the books.

I don't think Chelsea ever have to worry about squad depth. They can probably bring in about 5 midfielders in the space of a week.

Not if they don't pony up they won't, and Brighton want an awful lot of money for him.
A deal will be struck of that i'm fairly certain and equally wouldn't surprise me if we see Gallagher in Brighton colours next season either.

I remember most on here up in arms about the thought of signing Amrabat when we were linked ( but soon changed their minds when they saw him play ). So I’ll take SC’s community expertise on players with a Pinch of salt. So if Ange thinks he’s a good fit for his system then I’m all for it.

I've seen Kamada's name mentioned a few times.

Has there been a link or is it just wishful thinking because he's without a club?

Wasn’t their ITK before that we wanted Lavia, I’m guessing the ship has sailed and the money has got a bit much.
CG would not be my first choice but if it’s more for cover and domestic comps and Ange thinks he can be the glue that sticks things together then 🤷‍♀️

Wishful thinking...but not with absolutely zero foundation (near there though). We have been linked in the past, so you never know
