I like the idea of him leading up the mentality change at the club. He looks like a fantastic motivator of men and a guy that knows what to say in the media to energize a fanbase and really speak their language. That can really go a long way in generating buy-in from all components of a club, and also provide a strong foundation for patience and backing.

I’m pretty excited. I think we have been relatively successful in the past few years despite the football on display and all of the other shit going on at the club. If Ange can bring a fun style of play to this squad of players that is still talented, but low on confidence, we may be on to something here. We just need the club to not trip on their own dick for a bit, just let the football be the main storyline.

I, for one, am excited about this next chapter and think Ange (I also think Slot would have been a fantastic hire) could be just the guy we need right now to bring some joy back to our club.

Would you really be more accepting of Ange had led Genoa to 12th place or got Coventry in the play offs? He has smashed it at his first European job you can't ask anymore than that from him
For a spurs job no but I would be more accepting if he took a small team to a top 8 finish

Literally outspent his rival by 150% and won everything expected of him. They have done like 5 trebles in 6 years

The fact he is getting a 2 year contract with an option for a third, shows me this club isn't serious and just trying alternative strategy

This is a manager who I haven't seen instil a culture regarding youth players, improving young players and etc at his previous club outside of his signings he made

We need stability he should have been given a longer contract and a DoF to install his philopsophy which I'm not sure what it actually is

Keown making a fool of himself as per.

Keown hasn’t got the mental agility to go toe to toe with anyone who can offer up a vaguely sensible counter argument!

The fact he hasn’t learnt by now that Simon Jordan can tie him in knots every single time, is just one of those gifts that just keep on giving! 😂

As someone else said when someone else made this point earlier, he was on a 12 month rolling contract at Celtic, didn't change his application to the job there, and also Poch is on the same length at Chelsea! You're an angry elf!

I don't, but I think there are many factors at play here.

He's just won the treble and has had success at other lesser levels.
He appears to be a good coach and man manager wherever he has been.
He plays front foot entertaining football.
He's charismatic which will help with the press.
He won't have crazy player demands.
The fans will like him as long as he gets results.
He is known by Munn.
He is represented by Caa Base.

Now you can shuffle these around into whatever order you like but I would bet you a kidney that every single point above contributed to him being appointed if/when it happens.
Yep and pretty much all of those things are positives so good appointment all things considered.

How do you know that the length of the contract is the club’s call and not his?
Im sure everyone wants to be positive but literally Nuno and Conte, had issues with the same problem

It's was a mountain made of a molehill but Conte was consistently questioned about his contract. It was boring

But this doesn't feel like someone given the reigns to rebuild. Poch was given a 5 year contract when he joined, it felt he was given time to rebuild

Too daft to recognize he is daft.

If he does whats expected, then that would be a start.

I'm just happy we have someone who wants to talk to players, and listen. In one interview, he talked about how important it was for the Japanese players to settle, and how they employed a go between to smooth their transition.

I'm not convinced you get this level of man management from conte, or Jose.

I think that was more about the fact that Conte wouldn't commit, rather than the club not wanting to.

Levy said in a recent interview about adopting the shorter managerial contracts from abroad. He has always offered shorter contracts to managers. He did the same with Jose and Conte. There really is no issue with it whatsoever. It would be idiotic to offer a larger contract at this point. You give a manager a short contract to prove himself and then they sign an extension if they do well. Even Guardiola has short contracts. His latest is 2 years. It sounds like you're not really clue up on manager contracts to he honest.

Did we attract world class players under Poch? or did we unearth gems like a Dele? I'm honestly okay with unearthing gems at this point if they actively want to be here.
I never said we did that under Poch. I was just wondering what kind of players he would want to bring. Seems like young talents is the way to go then and i would have no problems with that as long we play nice football and still being competetive.

I would agree it does seem to be the trend at the moment. However the issue can be, as we have just seen, that you very quickly get to the point where a manager is not looking to commit further and your path is compromised. The way around this is to have a DOF and a consistent club approach. The way it has played out with Spurs and Conte means we now have 23 wing backs :)

Social media is a weird thing. On the one hand you have twitter full of anger and bile and then you have reddit full of optimism and rainbows.

And in the /r/soccer threads there has been loads of positivity (for want of a better word) from fans of other teams as well. Good appointment for Spurs, excited to see what he can do, looking forward to I'm a hipster ball in the Premier League etc... I was quite surprised.

Poch has a 1 year rolling contract didn't he? Conte made it clear he viewed contract lengths as irrelevant. The farce with Nuno shows they clearly don't matter.
