He could be a complete disaster but the bar has fallen so much during the past few years that I’d welcome him based on the fact that he looks the complete opposite of a moany, mopey bastard, which would be refreshing. Like everyone else though, I got bored of this whole thing ages ago now.

Unbelievable seeing one too many 'underwhelmed' responses. When the whole world wanted a manager who is not defensive, and here we are possibly getting an ultra attacking one, but look at the reactions here.

Ange is probably the closest we could get to Slot and speakers just as passionately well. There is simply no reason to fully accept Slot but wholly rejecting Ange, all just because the latter manages a SPL side when Slot's opponents in Eredivisie are nothing more impressive. Have some of you actually seen how badly coached we were this season and being clueless on the field? The facts have all been presented Slot/Ange are the probably the most ideal to solve our issues. We couldn't get Slot, so, we move on to the next.

Mid table is where we are at the moment because of one stupid chairman. Put all the blame on the bald fraud if Ange comes, because what some of you want in a world class manager should have been wrapped up if the bald fraud thinks this club is world class enough.
Yeah you could be right, but if I'm being optimistic I'd say that a lot of the toxicity is borne of us playing passive, reactive football for 3 years, off the back of a death spiral under Poch.

I hope that the fans, when actually presented with some football that's proactive and attacking, are willing to give Ange the benefit of the doubt for a while. I'm clearly a fool to expect anything positive of football fans, though.

I must admit seeing so many fans believe we are "above" Slot and Ange really does make me realise why opposing teams fans often say what they say... United went for Ten Haag a manager we actively turned away and that has given them instant success - we've chased the Hollywood names and it hasn't worked for good reason, the manager needs to fit the club not necessarily the other way round and Ange, Slot and to be fair also Enrique would do that because for us as a fanbase to give manager patience we have to be entertained at the very least, it's just one of the things we've all been brought up with and honestly while I don't hold out total hope of this, if we get the players in we need for the system this summer then it won't be much of a rebuild at all, it will actually be quite exciting... that is obviously a very big if when it comes to this club though.

That's my point exactly though. The vast majority don't have any grit or nerve left. There's no credit in the bank for the Board and specifically Levy to work with. That's why it'll turn toxic so quickly.
We deserve what we get if that happens, especially if we're trying to play the kind of football that to a person we want to see. If the stadium is just going to hound out manager after manager then we're on a bit of a hiding to nothing whoever we appoint.

FWIW, I have a bit more faith in those in the ground to be able to discern whether something is moving in the right direction or not regardless of results.

I have a mate who's a Celtic supporter and i've made absolutely no effort at all to get in touch with the fucker. I know you're absolutely gagging for news and I can only apologise for letting you all down by sparing you the complete irrelevance of the views of some random spunkbubble :(
I had drinks last night with 3 massive Celtics fans. They never heard of the guy. They were pretty drunk though and were drowning their sorrows after losing to the Miami Heat in game 7

You can't determine whether he'll turn us down yet from his press conferences. I've always said, wait until he actually gets in a room with Levy next week. He won't have spoken with us directly yet.

You have to remember he is a god at Celtic and has a lot to risk reputation wise. If he gets any indication Levy is pulling the wool over his eyes by remaining as the defacto DoF he might turn us down as he seems like a principled man.
Whilst I still think he won’t turn us down as I think this is where his age will play into it. I do think things aren’t near as far along as people think. As you say so far talks would have gone through his agent. I just don’t see him doing a face to face until after the season. Now we know his agency is Levy’s buddies BASE but even so I think there’s probably still a lot that could go sideways as you say.

I think there’s just as much chance Levy might waver if Ange is as strong minded about transfer dealings as he is at Celtic. After all that was a sticking point for Nagelsmann to a certain degree. It’s all about control with Levy. No chance he has near the same control here as he does at Celtic. I honestly wonder what Ange’s reaction would be if Levy started bringing in his own signings.

And of course as you say it could be the opposite, Slot wanted us and supposedly Nagelsmann did too at first. Whilst I think the age factor might make him more open to us I think there’s still a lot up in the air. Yes I think he will be our new manager but it could well still take another week + to get it sorted. After all Celtic will be trying to keep him also plus who knows who else, I’ve also seen Marseille and Leicester linked for example.

I don't know if Ange will end up working at Spurs or not, it's a big jump and I'm trying to stop predicting the future as much but I feel he has the characteristics we need and I think what would be most positive for me is that, having missed out on Slot, it would at least show that we were working from clearly defined attributes we want in a coach as opposed to jumping from one thing to the next and that there was a method to arrive at the decision. I'd consider that a step in the right direction no matter what comes after.

I think some of the reason for the negativity is that he isn't coming into a settled system and there appears to be no progress to the recruitment side of things. It's not the same as Big Ange joining a well oiled machine like brighton and giving him a chance. If the new head of recruitment had already been appointed then it's sort of easier to fall in with, thsi is the new direction we are going in. but he will join whilst there's still ambiguity over our recruitment process so it still feels a bit like a mess.

after Celtic had beaten Rangers 3-0. “I said to the players that we had 60,000 in tonight and I’m sure a lot of them walked in with some problems in their life. For this 95 minutes we made them forget that and feel good and that’s something special.”….that’s an Ange quote. I’m in. Seems like way too classy of a guy that gets the emotional side of it that I can’t be against him.

the visual coming to mind are all these managers sitting in the boardroom (Jose, Antonio, Julian, Slot) saying to DL "this is what it takes to be successful when it comes to transfers." and Daniel thinking or saying "I disagree,"

I really don't think control is as big an issue that is made out. I think its a lot more to do with budget when it comes to Levy. If Ange has targets who fit the budget he will get his way. Similar to life under Redknapp who got players he wanted because they were attainable. I think the issues come with the likes of Jose or Conte asking for big money signings like Bastoni or Skriniar. Even Poch was after the likes of Mane, De Jong and Dybala towards the end. I can't see Ange chasing these big money deals so I think that will be OK. I would not be surprised if we have no dof and just Ange having more control but reporting to Munn.

Levy needs to get the fans onside and constantly moving to new managerial targets is a sure fire way to do the opposite. It gives the impression of no clear plan and direction. If we identified Ange as our target straight away and never wavered from that, I’d be far more convinced by it.

Either way, we need to commit to this now if we’ve identified him and make sure we get it over the line. We can’t afford to fuck about yet again.
