Someone in the board room needs to get a grip.
Add to that Nuno left Wolves because he was burnt out. Not exactly ideal coming into a high pressure job. Ange is at a club who want to keep him and he's challenging for titles. He will have something to prove in the league. Nuno came in and changed his formation to convince people he was going to be an attacking manager. There are 2 huge differences between him and Nuno, which I think will give him a much greater chance of succeeding:
1. He believes in and coaches attacking football. Nuno was another defensive, pragmatic manager. All that rubbish we saw about Paratici trying to convince Levy he played attacking football was hilarious. Anyone who had watched his teams knew he was pragmatic and defensive. Postecoglu on the other hand is a positive manager, he wants to attack and be on the frontfoot. All of his beliefs are about attacking the opponent and not compromising. This aligns with our club's history and style of play. It's what our fans want to see.
2. Ange has a personality and has charisma, where as Nuno was boring as hell and had zero charisma. Nuno couldn't inspire anyone and he couldn't connect with the fans at all (some of that was because he simply didn't share the same footballing beliefs our fans do). Ange on the other hand can inspire people and connects with the clubs he manages. He connects with the fans and shows them that he wants to play attacking football and he wants the fans to feel part of something, playing a style of football which our great club should always play.
If we rotate and use substitutes well, yeah. Are we up to a heavy pressing game with 2 x 30yr old forwards.
ThisYou’d have to be a right weirdo to have knives out for a manager straight away. I find it amusing seeing some posts on social media from people who can barely construct a sentence suggesting they have a deep knowledge on who is right or wrong for the job. It’s been said many times before but one of the biggest issues with Twitter is it gives really thick people a platform to be really loud.
My bass player is Scottish and a Celtic fan - was going to ask about AP at rehearsals last night, but he’s a bass player so fuck him and his worthless opinion. So how many Celtic mates are going to be spoken to today then?
I think this is true, but he's clearly ambitious and his stock won't really get any higher than it is at the moment - maybe if he repeats the treble (assuming) AND does well in the CL?You can't determine whether he'll turn us down yet from his press conferences. I've always said, wait until he actually gets in a room with Levy next week. He won't have spoken with us directly yet.
You have to remember he is a god at Celtic and has a lot to risk reputation wise. If he gets any indication Levy is pulling the wool over his eyes by remaining as the defacto DoF he might turn us down as he seems like a principled man.
This is overplayed for me. The point of a press is everyone presses so individuals won't have to run huge lengths. Son and Kane will find it more tiresome this season chasing without the ball when others don't press around them. They just need to press over short distance and set traps for the opposition or make it difficult for them to play out. Barca press just fine with Lewandowski at 34 and Dembele who is not exactly known for his work off the ball. Its going to favour them if we have more possession as well. Are we up to a heavy pressing game with 2 x 30yr old forwards.
When you mention complete irrelevance and random spunkbubble. You're talking about 90% of SC here, aren't youI have a mate who's a Celtic supporter and i've made absolutely no effort at all to get in touch with the fucker. I know you're absolutely gagging for news and I can only apologise for letting you all down by sparing you the complete irrelevance of the views of some random spunkbubble
I know the press in the last couple of months have named practically every manager you can think of and more so you take it all with a "pinch of salt" but I've just read that Marco Silva of Fulham is on a short list of 3. Where the hell did he come from? Wasn't he fired from Watford or somewhere in the last year or so?
He was our choice for a while, how much longer does he need to wait? We clearly didn't show we wanted him enough. Why should he then hold out for us in that situation and piss off his fans? He would be pretty desperate doing that given he was still in a good job.Whilst this may be true he also didnt exactly fight for it. If he had wanted it that badly he couldve done a lot more to try push the move along but instead signed a contract extension pretty quick.
Doesnt sound like someone who was all in on joining us.
Sadly we all thought the same about Slot and look how that went.I think this is true, but he's clearly ambitious and his stock won't really get any higher than it is at the moment - maybe if he repeats the treble (assuming) AND does well in the CL?
I think he'll jump to us if offered - which just leaves our board to actually make a decision and get on with it.
Yeah, I know.
Fixed your post..When you mention complete irrelevance and random spunkbubble. You're talking about 99% of SC here, aren't you
Obviously possible but he comes across as someone who really backs himself so I could see him thinking he'd succeed where others have failed.Sadly we all thought the same about Slot and look how that went.
At least there shouldn't be any financial stumbling blocks this time due to Ange's rolling contract at Celtic, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we manage to fuck it up by not making him feel wanted, not agreeing to some of his demands, etc.
In terms of club-size and infrastructure he's unlikely to get a better offer from the PL, but everyone in football knows we're a basketcase run by a control freak. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he walked away after meeting Levy, unfortunately.
He's the only (likely) remaining candidate I can muster much excitement for so it's guaranteed we'll contrive to miss out on him somehow.
Let's be honest, it would be a rather underwhelming appointment. Having said that, and before I go on, I stress that I'd give the guy a proper chance and don't want him to fail. Obviously. You’d have to be a right weirdo to have knives out for a manager straight away. I find it amusing seeing some posts on social media from people who can barely construct a sentence suggesting they have a deep knowledge on who is right or wrong for the job. It’s been said many times before but one of the biggest issues with Twitter is it gives really thick people a platform to be really loud.
I think he is one of those guys that has been linked to us from the moment he had Hull playing slightly nice football,I know the press in the last couple of months have named practically every manager you can think of and more so you take it all with a "pinch of salt" but I've just read that Marco Silva of Fulham is on a short list of 3. Where the hell did he come from? Wasn't he fired from Watford or somewhere in the last year or so?
