We couldn't get the Feyenoord manager
We didn't pay up for him. I guess this will be spun by some that Slot turned us down. If we paid the money and showed we really wanted him he would be here. Ange I believe is on a rolling contract so that won't be an issue.

There are 2 huge differences between him and Nuno, which I think will give him a much greater chance of succeeding:

1. He believes in and coaches attacking football. Nuno was another defensive, pragmatic manager. All that rubbish we saw about Paratici trying to convince Levy he played attacking football was hilarious. Anyone who had watched his teams knew he was pragmatic and defensive. Postecoglu on the other hand is a positive manager, he wants to attack and be on the frontfoot. All of his beliefs are about attacking the opponent and not compromising. This aligns with our club's history and style of play. It's what our fans want to see.

2. Ange has a personality and has charisma, where as Nuno was boring as hell and had zero charisma. Nuno couldn't inspire anyone and he couldn't connect with the fans at all (some of that was because he simply didn't share the same footballing beliefs our fans do). Ange on the other hand can inspire people and connects with the clubs he manages. He connects with the fans and shows them that he wants to play attacking football and he wants the fans to feel part of something, playing a style of football which our great club should always play.
Unlike Nuno, he also won't be pretending to be something he's not (if he joins).

If Nuno had actually been allowed to play the back 3 he used at Wolves he might've done OK here. I mean, it would've been shit to watch, but his Wolves team were very functional and effective at what they did. Instead we signed a pragmatist and tried to sell him to the fans as the man to bring back attacking football to Spurs with a fun 4-3-3. Except it wasn't fun, it was dogshit, cos he can't coach teams to play that way.

Ange won't fall for that kind of Levy nonsense and will play his way or not at all.

I wouldnt rely on this to much as generally im cynical about mic'd up type stuff - but as he is a genuine guy, this may help answer your question

Had to wait till right near the end, but it seems the answer is that he likes his teams to press when not in possession. That will be a big change for our players who haven't done that since poch left.

The way he talks I think he would win over the fans and media very early on. With the players they all say it comes down to first couple of training sessions, if they are good then that combined with some good talks can get them on his side very quickly.
I hear you re first few home games but I actually think fans will give him some time, If the fans are going to boo / chant it will be towards our dear leader not Ange.

Given he plays a very heavy pressing game it will take a good while to get the players used to it so expect the first few months we will be very inconsistent and concede quite a lot. As long as there are some signs of progress like when Poch came in then he will be given time by fans
Are we up to a heavy pressing game with 2 x 30yr old forwards.

Whatever his ability as a manager turns out to be (hopefully, can't take another rejection ffs) he certainly seems like the kind of human we can all get behind and can all trust that no matter what, he will give his all for this club and US.

That is a massive starting point. I'm all for the big Aussie

Son can press albeit not as well as he used to under Poch. Harry is smart enough to get into good positions to cut off passing lanes. Any manager worth his salt will be able to adapt a little to accommodate those 2 players

Whilst this may be true he also didnt exactly fight for it. If he had wanted it that badly he couldve done a lot more to try push the move along but instead signed a contract extension pretty quick.

Doesnt sound like someone who was all in on joining us.

I hope this happens now. Get him in and start preparing for next season. I’m of the opinion he will surprise a few people and our fans will take to him very quickly. For it to work we need a United fan base.

One thing I do like about him potentially coming is if he brings the Aussie mentality to sport with him. Something I think the club needs.

More of it here. Not sure how PL players would respond to it though.

Originally when people talked about him, it was like he was a big cuddly teddy bear. Having now watched a few videos I think it's quite the opposite. He seem hugely driven, totally obsessed with what he is doing and won't take shit from anyone.

Playing for Conte must have been like living with a manic-depressive. One moment it was positivity and excitement, the next it was all doom and gloom and misery. I think the players would really benefit from a no bullshit, consistent approach which appears to be what Ange is all about. He also absolutely gets what fans mean by "their club" which is a massive step forward.

Obviously, it could all go to shit but the flipside is that this could be exactly what so many of us have missed since Poch fell into despair.
