I'm not too excited by Slot. If it was me I'd try and hijack Poch. But if it is Slot, I think from what everyone has said, he aligns with those "values" Kane and Mason have been talking about, so I'm hopeful as far as Kane's future goes.

Well that's not the news I was hoping to hear.

At least it's confirmed now - was worried it would drag on and on and we still wouldn't get him anyway.

Really hope this is the catalyst for us to make a move for our number 2 target. With the Eredivisie sewn up and Feyenoord out of Europe there's nothing to stop us negotiating a deal right away for Slot.

Of course he’s said no, he’s been publicly our top choice, to word it as if we never had any interest makes them look like more of a shitshow than just saying we couldn’t agree on football decisions.
This kinda makes sense when you think about it logically

I mean he could be a control freak nut job but he is clearly absolutely top draw. Maybe his personality was too similar to our Chairmans!

I still think it will be Slot which I would be happy with but Mason clearly is also a strong possibility,

The specifics in that press briefing are a big tell. It leaves us with two scenarios, neither of which is good.

Either Nagelsmann rejected us after listening to our plans and we’ve rushed that briefing out. Schoolboy behaviour.

Or he genuinely isn’t on the shortlist or of interest to Levy. This is an even worse scenario as it reeks of incompetence.

I pray it’s not Amorim or Mason.

New Matt Law Article says usual names of Enrique, Slot, Xabi Alonso, Anorim, and Big Ange.

Still would back any of those tbh - just think Enrique sticks out on that list as the odd man out. Good option, but I could see the others being more of the "long term" project.

Skybet have removed the market while they reconfigure the odds :D

They are as kneejerk as SC, except in their case it's millions at stake, on here, it's being the butt of the 'banter' on whatsapp that rankles

Basically means he told Levy what was needed for him to consider the job and Levy didn't like what he heard. Par for the course with our chairman.

So the progress goes - he has admirers, he's on the list - been that way for years. Wanted him before he went to Bayern, we know this

24th March:
"The Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy would like to speak to Julian Nagelsmann about becoming their head coach next seasonand has been placed among Tottenham’s candidates to succeed Antonio Conte" "Tottenham were first interested in appointing Nagelsmann as Pochettino’s successor in November 2019"

Want to contact him, have wanted him for years

27 March:
"Daniel Levy ramps up Tottenham manager search with Julian Nagelsmann his No 1 choice"

24th April:
"Julian Nagelsmann would want a summer move and a decisive say in transfer dealings if he is to consider moving to Tottenham Hotspur."
"The long-time chairman will make a strong attempt to persuade the German. "

Levy wants him, he wants a say in transfer dealings

26th April:

"BILD knows: Nagelsmann is very keen to take over the Spurs for the new season. Nagelsmann is now concentrating on this option. He would be interested in the task. If Tottenham meets Nagelsmann's demands, the German coach could work on the island in the coming season "

Nagelsmann is keen, demands such as having a say in transfers, DoF he agress with

27th April:

"Tottenham have listed Nagelsmann as one of their favoured managerial options, and made contact with him before he pulled out of the running to become the Chelsea manager. Other options include Kompany, Slot, Mason"

Rangnick being a wingman and bigging up the Spurs job, lots of potential, they've worked together before and I assume get on with each other. Club contacted him

"Exclusive: German is high on wanted list but there is a limit to what Spurs will pay to compensate for his Bayern deal "

Club want him, might not want to pay what Bayern want to get him though

2nd May:
Nagelsmann has previously gone on record to speak of his admiration of Spurs in the past. "[I've followed Tottenham closely] since Pochettino was there," he said during his RB Leipzig days. "He's a really good manager, his team was great to watch."

Nagelsmann talks up the club and the job

5th May:

"Tottenham/Levy pushing more and more! Further talks took place in the last days. #COYS are a serious option for him. His opinion: Big club! Big potential! ➡️ But he wants to know exactly: How much power does he get in transfers? And it’s still unclear who will be the new managing director of football after Paratici. "

Levy wants him, but he wants a say in transfers, DoF lined up

6th May:

"German is Daniel Levy's main target but Spurs might have to pay Bayern Munich more than £10 million "

"Julian Nagelsmann remains top of Tottenham list as new coach. He isn’t prepared to advance to the crucial stages of the negotiations until he knows who's going to be the Director of Football"

Club might have to pay for him and he wants to agree on the DoF before joining

Now after all that:
12th May:

"Spurs do not intent to meet with Julian Nagelsmann and he is not currently a contender for the manager’s job "
"Julian Nagelsmann is not being considered as a candidate for the vacant head coach post and the club insist they have not met with him and do not intend to."

Now local reporters have been briefed that the club haven't contacted him and in fact don't want him

So let me get this straight:
* The club are admirers of him and have been for years.
* He is on the list
* He is at the top of the list
* The club have contacted him
* He would be interested in the job

After all that, one of the best young managers in world football with a football philosophy that'd suit the club down to the ground and you don't consider him, haven't met and don't want him in the first place?

The requirements to get him, which have stayed consistent from all sides every single time they've been mentioned from fairly reliable sources are:
* He has to have a say in transfers
* He wants to know the DoF and I assume think he can work with them
* Have to pay Bayern a decent wedge - £10m+

Which aspects do you think have been failed here - money (buying out contract), giving up power (letting him have a say in transfers) or competence (no DoF after not having any contingency plan for Paratici)?

Joke of a club, upper management are incompetent

*Also instead of dealing with this with grace this response makes the club look incredibly petty and unprofessional, you've made the club look even more of a joke and showed potential managers you're not a good place to work at because of it. Well done
