Personally i find Enrique more risky then most of the targets we have been linked to. He has only excelled in Spain and only for two seasons where he had a front three of MSN, in his third season at Barca he completely ran out of ideas and even himself said he was burnt out. His only stint outside of Spain was one season at Roma and it was a complete failure which also raises questions about adaptability and whether his tactics and style of management are specifically suited to La Liga. After all he's never even played football for a team outside of Spain. I mean, yeah how he adapted the Barca system into something more direct I could maybe see working in the PL and his time at Celta was decent but personally I struggle to see the appeal. That being said someone like Ange doesn't necessarily make any more sense to me and I guess all managers have risks involved.
Totally agree.

My worry is he'll be like AVB. His teams always have issues against low-block units.

Reckon we'll see a lot of games with high possession but a lack of cutting edge

I agree that Poch did a great job of bringing certain players through, maximising their talent and moulding the squad by getting rid of the bad apples like Capoue, Adebayor, Kaboul, etc. I don't think Alli or Rose necessarily flourish under a different manager, and after about a year he did find the ideal role for Dembele.

However, the talent ceiling of that batch of players, in retrospect, is just ridiculous. Kane is a generational striker, Eriksen one of the all-time PL assisters and general maestro, Walker multiple title winner and world class full-back, Dembele - the guy everyone says is the best player they've ever trained with, Son the best Asian player of all time. And that's not to mention the CBs. A manager can nurture talent but not to the level of that squad.

Even with Poch as manager, I simply can't see this current group ever coming close to the talent ceiling of his initial batch, although I do think the ceiling of some of our current signings is really high, especially the wing backs, Bissouma, Sarr, etc.
Still disagree if we can get 3 more top quality players in. We need a keeper, a CB to pair with Romero and a creator in the Eriksen role which are big asks, but the rest of the squad is better. As I said I’d take Porro and Udogie over 2014-15 Walker and rose, Bissouma/Bentancur is a high quality midfield base that is at least comparable to Dembele and Wanyama/Dier but with better depth in Skipp and Hojbjerg than we had then. Up front we still have Son and Kane, I’d take Kulu over Dele and Richy is far better than anything we had in reserve then. We are those 3 players away from a very good squad, if some of the players who have had the joy coached out of them can be improved or return to previous levels

It's an absolutely mad appointment if that's what they do. Potter lost the players with them all thinking he wasn't up for the job apparantly and he was out of his depth. I'm sure a coach, no matter how talented he is, who most of them will probably never have heard of let alone respect will be welcomed in by them without prejudice.

To be fair, they just got pampered back, any appointment after that will seem good as a manager.

Looks like Arne not a fan of Mourinho's style

When asked about Thursday night’s fixture, the Dutch technician remarked, “We lost 1-0 in the Conference League final last year with them. They still have the same coach, Mourinho, and they still play the same way,” reports De Telegraaf.

“They signed three good players last summer such as Paulo Dybala, Nemanja Matic and Georginio Wijnaldum. I respect Roma, they get results through their way of playing, but I prefer to watch Manchester City and Napoli. I’m honest about this.”

we can call Chelsea mad etc, but if they get Gallardo then I’ll be envious plus they seem to be doing their business without pissing around

did we get itk to say interviews this week?
Inadvertently speaking, yes.

Though one can assume that back-channel conversations are taking place all the time. Just harder with coaches are still actively vested in their current teams. EG: Slot or De Zerbi or Ange or Amorim.

So, they could be chatting with JN and MP or any others who are currently free agents.

But if I t'were a betting man, I don't think the new king will be crowned until after the season is over. Unless they are all-in on someone like JN. In which case, that could be announced at any moment. Though ITK seems to indicate that he isn't necessarily the #1 choice.

Yes meant to be this week. Would imagine what JN's reaction would be to being asked to do an interview so can't see him being one of them.
You think Nagelsmann would expect the job without even talking to his employers? I know he’s got a big ego but I’m not sure it’s that big…

Smart. Let Chelsea get Gallardo used to the prem then swoop in after they elbow him in 12-18 months despite winning them a CL and doing okay in the league.

Finally thinking ahead.

Yep when we got Conte I thought either we are spending £500m and going for the title or we are fools.

It's not necessarily that binary. If Conte was more committed and, dare I say, better at managing (generally speaking) he could have imparted a more competitive spirit and ruthless mentality into the squad. He could have used his experience to get them better prepared for important and tough matches and so on.

He didn't need to win any more than he did, but he could easily have left that legacy and some beneficial change within the club. He might well have done so but it seems to have been limited at best.

Mate, meant with respect; Chelsea’s business since Boehly arrived, has been nothing short of shambolic. Pissing around has been their only clear MO.

Hard to believe, but they make us look like we’ve got a plan.

Transfer kitty aside, I’m not envious in the slightest.

Alverez also waxes lyrically about him. Gallardo well known for being an excellent developer of youth talent so I can understand how that might be appealing to Chelsea considering their new modus operandi is all about getting the best youth talent.
Which are what we should do

No idea on Nagelsmann chances currently. We definitely sounded him out early doors, but I have no idea what came of that and if he's still in the running.

One thing for sure is we seem to have finally identified the right kind of manager re their style of play. Each name I've heard all play a similar attacking style of football so regardless of who we fall on, at least there is that.
